Abstract

    Remiantis gyvosios kalbos ir istorijos šaltinių duomenų analize straipsnyje išsamiai aptariama Kelmės r. Kražių seniūnijoje esančio kaimo vardo Ývoliai kilmė ir raida. Apžvelgus oikonimo užrašymus iš gyvosios kalbos, įvertinus jų patikimumą daroma išvada, kad vardo forma su ilguoju balsiu žodžio pradžioje yra autentiška. Aptariant oikonimo vartoseną istorijos šaltiniuose daugiausia dėmesio skiriama Kražių parapijos 1656–1672 m. krikšto metrikų knygos, kurioje šis vardas paminėtas pirmą kartą, įrašų analizei. Siekiant respektuoti ne tik vardo, bet ir juo vadinamos gyvenvietės istoriją, pateikiamas ir toponiminis, ir antroponiminis istorinių užrašymų kontekstas: išsamiai apžvelgiami kaimo bei jo gyventojų paminėjimai, atskleidžiami užrašytų žmonių tarpusavio ryšiai. Nustačius, kad Yvolių kaime ir jo apylinkėse XVII a. II pusėje būta asmenvardžio *Yvolis (Iwolis, Iwolowa, Iwołayte, Iwalowa, Iwołaytis, Iwoliene, Iwalowna), daroma išvada, jog oikonimas neabejotinai yra asmenvardinės kilmės.
