The a icle mainly analyzes 180 17 h-cen u y Kėdainiečių (membe s o he seconda y d ina io
naming model) o Li huanian o igin. They we e collec ed om he in en o y o Kėdainiai in 1604,
1624, 1666 and 1622 and om he in en o y o Kėdainiai Klebonijos činšo in 1622. These pe sonal
names we e singled ou o glo i ica ion ce emonies, and 106 o hei au hen ic lis s we e
es o ed. A e econs uc ing his o ical an h oponymic o ms wi h cu en Li huanian
su names, i was ound ha (60 63%) o hem s ill unc ion oday. O hese, 24 (23%) a e o he
same o igin, only wi h di e en p oduc ion su names. The emaining 19 pe sonal names (17%)

The a icle ocuses on 180 an h oponyms (second componen s o he bina y nomina ion model)
o Li huanian o igin used o naming Kėdainiai esiden s in he 17 h cen u y. They we e
collec ed om Kėdainiai in en o ies o 1604, 1624 and 1666 as well as Kėdainiai ec o y land en
in en o y o 1622. The endencies o Sla icisa ion o hese pe sonal names we e es ablished
and 106 au hen ic o ms we e econs uc ed. The compa ison be ween he econs uc ed
o ms o his o ical an h oponyms and con empo a y Li huanian su names led o he conclusion
ha 63 (60%) o hem s ill unc ion oday. A pa o hem, i.e. 24 (23 pe cen o he
econs uc ed an h oponyms), ha e he equi alen s o su names o he same o igin bu
di e en o ma ion. The emaining 19 pe sonal names (17 pe cen ) ha e no equi alen s among
he p esen -day pe sonal names.

Senųjų Kėdainių is o iniai an oponimai jau p adė i i i. Pi miausia bu o

magis a es' cases could ha e been modi ied in a ious ways. This is how he
g aphic a ian s o hei su names we e o med (Ragauskai ė 2007: 6364). The
esul s o he analysis o he an h oponyms o he books o ac s o he 17 h and
18 h cen u ies showed ha du ing his pe iod he pe sonal names o Li huanian
kėdainiečių we e also celeb a ed: in cases o sound subs i u ion examined, pa o
he male an h oponyms had he Sla ic p e ix -e ič, -o ič, and mos o he emale
pe sonal names had he Sla ic p e ix -o a, -o na (Ragauskai ė 2011: 2122). The
p ocess o glo i ica ion o Kėdainiečių su names was no e y in ensi e in he

an in luence on ha . Kėdainiai was he cen e o e o med Li huanian in he G and
Duchy o Li huania, he Li huanian language sounded in he public li e o he ci y,

manusc ip s (Ragauskai ė 2012: 215[…]220). By 1628-1629, people o Sco ish descen
li ing in Kėdainiai al eady had su names, bu he eco ding o hei inhe i ances in

isi ed by Ge mans. The spelling o hei su names had no se led. This
phenomenon was in luenced by he speci ics o he books and he con ex o he
eco ds s udied. The gende ansmission o Ge man womens su names was mo e
a ied. In he 17 h and 18 h cen u ies, he seconda y an h oponyms (acco ding o
he man o he a he ) we e added o he books o he Kedaic ac s by he Sla ic
p eposi ions -o a (w i en in his o ical sou ces as -owa) o he su names o women who had usually ma ied and -o na (owna) o he su names o women who had no ma ied (Ragauskai ė 2017:
117–120).
Based on he eco ds o Kėdainiai his o y documen s o he se en een h and
eigh een h cen u ies, i u ned ou ha he su names o all local municipal
communi ies (lie u ių, Polish) g oups we e o med a di e en imes. In he
i s hal o he se en een h cen u y, he kėdainiečiai, who occupied a highe posi ion in socie y, we e w i en wi h he edi a y pe sonal names. On he second o his

lowe classes o he u ban popula ion acqui ed inhe i ed an h oponyms. Only he
su names o he lowe s a a (se an s and so on) o he Kėdainiai communi y

eco ded wi h su names in he ci y's deed books (Ragauskai ė 2017a: 66). As can be
seen, he di e en e hnic g oups li ing in he Kėdainiai (Sco s, Ge mans, Poles,
Li huanians, e c.) had hei own sys ems o naming people, ixing su names,
