INTRODUCTION
Cogni i e onomas ics (Ka penko 2010, 2015; Ju ka 2009) is one o he
new b anches o cogni i e linguis ics. The main ask o cogni i e onomas ics
is o de elop heo e ical undamen als and me hodological p ocedu es
aimed a s udying he mechanisms o men aliza ion o p ope names/onyms
(Héois 2020; Vaxelai e 2016) bo h in he indi idual and in he collec i e
language consciousness o ep esen a i es o a ce ain linguis ic cul u e.
I is he possession o backg ound knowledge ha is pa o he cogni i e
base and has an in a ian cha ac e , i “allows he indi idual, acco ding o
D. B. Gudko , o na iga e in he space o linguocul u e and comply wi h
i s no ms and ules” (2003). The basis o such knowledge in he cogni i e
base o linguocul u e is p eceden phenomena (Bahan 2014; Kal’čenko 2014;
Saxa uk 2011, e c.).
Wi hou going in o he his o y o he de elopmen o he heo y o he
p eceden , we will b ie ly dwell only on hose poin s ha co espond o he
classi ica ion o phenomena ela ed o he p eceden . A he same ime, we
no e ha he me hodology o s udying hese phenomena began o be ac i ely
de eloped only a he end o he 20 h – he beginning o he 21s cen u y.
In ou opinion, he e m “p eceden ex ” was mos widely used. I apidly
acqui ed a numbe o double s, including he iden i ie “p eceden ” in i s
composi ion. And he mo e ac i ely his se ies was eplenished, he mo e clea ly
he need o hei di e en ia ion ma u ed. O e ime, he e m “p eceden
phenomenon” was p oposed as a hype nym o all hyponyms wi h he iden i ie
“p eceden ”.

and me aconcep s (2004: 154). The scien is de ines he p eceden wo ld as a se o
indi idual p eceden phenomena (names, s a emen s, si ua ions), 1) ascending
o a single sou ce, 2) pe cei ed by na i e speake s as in e connec ed, 3) egula ly
upda ed in a ious combina ions wi h each o he (Slyškin 2004: 154). A he
same ime, G. G. Slyškin belie es ha an appeal o p eceden wo lds makes
i possible o con ey mo e complex cul u al meanings han an appeal o
indi idual p eceden phenomena. Howe e , such a s a emen , in ou opinion, is
no con incing enough, since each o he abo e ypes o p eceden phenomena
(names, s a emen s, si ua ions) equally mee s he abo e h ee condi ions and
con ibu es o he ansmission o a complex seman ic con en .
To a gue ou poin o iew, we p esen he de ini ions a ailable in he scien i ic
li e a u e o each o he ou hyponyms o p eceden phenomena, aking in o
accoun ou co ec ion. A “p eceden ex ” is a complex sign amilia o a
ep esen a i e o he linguocul u e, he appeal o which is o en esumed in he
p ocess o communica ion wi h he help o s a emen s and symbols associa ed
wi h his ex . A “p eceden si ua ion” is a kind o p o o ype si ua ion wi h
conno a ions cha ac e is ic o i s s e eo ype. A “p eceden s a emen ” is a piece
o speech con aining a well-known quo a ion. A “p eceden p ope name” is
an indi idual name associa ed ei he wi h i s widely known quo a ions and
e en en i e ex s ha ha e become p eceden o wi h si ua ions known o
ep esen a i es o he linguocul u e.
As o he p eceden p ope name, i is easy o see ha i s scien i ic scope is
closely ela ed o he p e ious h ee ypes o p eceden phenomena. Le us

names”, such as “p eceden onyms” (Naximo a 2011), “p eceden oponyms”

1. RELATIONSHIP OF THE CONCEPTS
OF PRECEDENCE, INTERTEXTUALITY
AND INTERTEXT

In e ex uali y, acco ding o Ju ij M. Lo man, is a kind o “semio ic
memo y o cul u e”, which is cha ac e ized no only by he accumula ion o

ma ix” (Topo o 1987), in he cons uc ion o which ano he ex is highligh ed.

o signi ican e en s, ac s, and si ua ions, assigning a seconda y ole o he
iden i ica ion unc ion, i.e. labels.

2. METHODOLOGY OF STUDYING
THE INTERCULTURAL TRANSFER
OF PRECEDENT PROPER NAMES

and biblical p ope names, which ha e become, in ou opinion, in e na ional
p eceden phenomena in he p ocess o b oad ans e iza ion. Thei ans e o
ano he cul u al sys em is a dynamic p ocess consis ing o h ee main phases:
selec ion, ans e and ecep ion, which unde lie he p oposed me hodology o
s udying p ecedence, in e ex uali y and in e na ionali y o p ope names.
