The sus ainable handling o esea ch da a equi es collabo a ion ac oss s akeholde s [1], gi en
he challenges a ising om he de elopmen o wo k lows, s anda ds, and in as uc u es o
e ec i e esea ch da a managemen (RDM). In ol ed s akeholde s include cen al uni s (e.g.
lib a ies, IT) and ins i u ions, o e ing in as uc u es and se ices, and esea che s wi h spe-
ci ic needs and expec a ions wi h ega d o RDM se ices.
The NFDI conso ia and sec ions p o ide an impo an ounda ion o hese challenges. How-
e e , ins i u ional engagemen and suppo emain essen ial, and c oss-ins i u ional s uc u es
like he RDM ede al s a e ini ia i es ac i ely suppo his goal. In bo h Schleswig-Hols ein and
Mecklenbu g-Vo pomme n, he co esponding ede al s a e ini ia i es FDM-SH [2,3] and he
p oposed concep FDM-MV [4] implemen a communi y-based app oach enabling s akehold-
e s o collabo a i ely add ess challenges h ough in e es and wo king g oups.
The added alues o he communi y-based app oach include:

membe s o p e en de elopmen s om being d i en o wa d ha do no mee he
needs o local esea ch ins i u ions.

Since 2023, ou in e es and h ee wo king g oups [5] ha e eme ged wi hin he ac i e FDM-
SH-communi y in Schleswig-Hols ein. Topics ange om hose ele an o cen al uni s – such
as s o age, a chi ing, and policies – o hose aised by esea che s, including sus ainable han-
dling o esea ch so wa e and molecula biological da a (especially OMICS). In coo dina ion
wi h he NFDI and in exchange wi h ep esen a i es om Schleswig-Hols ein, o he ede al
s a es and wi h ne wo ks such as ELIXIR, he objec i es a e se ing up RDM sys ems o se-
quence (me a)da a s o age and da a b oke ing as well as adop ing and de eloping in e ope -
able (me a)da a s anda ds.
Fi e wo king g oups we e es ablished wi hin he “Da enkompass MV” p ojec , which was a
demons a o o an RDM-communi y in Mecklenbu g-Vo pomme n. They add ess basic se -
ices and aining, as well as s uc u al aspec s such as go e nance, legal amewo ks, and
es ablishing a ask ca alogue o he RDM ne wo k. No ably, he wo king g oup o Teaching
and T aining success ully b ough oge he di e se s akeholde s o map exis ing aining p o-
g ammes, iden i y gaps, and explo e syne gies – using he lea ning objec i es ma ix on RDM
[6] as a ounda ion. The analysis e ealed a b oad spec um o o e ings, om in e disciplina y
sho cou ses o semes e -long lec u es and subjec -speci ic modules.
Wi h ou p esen a ion, we showcase he added alue o communi y-based app oaches in
Schleswig-Hols ein and Mecklenbu g-Vo pomme n and unde line hei po en ial o collabo a-
ion wi h he NFDI. The s a e ini ia i es unc ion as in o ma ion hubs – communica ing NFDI
de elopmen s o ins i u ions and a ge g oups, and helping dissemina e NFDI esou ces
ac oss egions.
