Occupa ional exposu e pa e ns in manu ac u ing sec o s a e in ica ely linked o he ma e ials u ilized and he

especially in egions whe e occupa ional heal h s anda ds may be less s ingen [11].
In he ubbe manu ac u ing sec o , employees encoun e a my iad o chemicals, including sol en s and cu ing agen s,
ha can i i a e he espi a o y sys em and lead o sensi iza ion, po en ially culmina ing in ch onic espi a o y ailmen s
[12,13]. No ably, occupa ional exposu es in his indus y ha e been associa ed wi h an ele a ed isk o cance s such as
leukemia, lymphoma, and malignancies o he u ina y bladde , lungs, and s omach. The in ica e and e ol ing na u e o
exposu e mix u es in ubbe manu ac u ing poses challenges in pinpoin ing speci ic causa i e agen s, unde sco ing he
necessi y o comp ehensi e exposu e assessmen s and obus p e en i e measu es [14].
Wi hin he chemical manu ac u ing indus y, wo ke s may be exposed o subs ances like Bisphenol A (BPA), u ilized in
p oducing polyca bona e plas ics and epoxy esins. S udies ha e highligh ed he po en ial o occupa ional exposu e o
his endoc ine-dis up ing compound, emphasizing he need o igilan moni o ing and he implemen a ion o s ingen
sa e y p o ocols o sa egua d wo ke s om po en ial heal h e ec s associa ed wi h chemical agen s [15, 16].
Indus ies employing pe - and poly luo oalkyl subs ances (PFAS), such as elec onics, plas ics, ex iles, and
cons uc ion, p esen unique exposu e isks due o he hyd ophobic and lipophobic p ope ies o hese chemicals [17].
Occupa ional exposu e o PFAS can occu in acili ies ha p oduce hese chemicals and in manu ac u ing se ings whe e
hey a e in eg al o indus ial p ocesses, such as he ch ome pla ing indus y [18, 19]. Wo ke s handling PFAS-

a iable ai low limi a ion and ai way hype - esponsi eness due o wo kplace exposu es [23]. I is he mos commonly
diagnosed occupa ional lung disease, wi h symp oms including wheezing, coughing, and sho ness o b ea h. These
symp oms o en exace ba e du ing he wo kweek and may imp o e du ing weekends o aca ions, highligh ing he
di ec impac o occupa ional en i onmen s on espi a o y heal h. Exposu e o subs ances such as dus , chemicals, and
molds can igge his condi ion [24, 25].
Ch onic obs uc i e pulmona y disease (COPD), encompassing ch onic b onchi is and emphysema, can also be caused
o exace ba ed by occupa ional exposu es o dus , umes, and chemicals. App oxima ely 14% o COPD cases a e
a ibu able o wo kplace exposu es, wi h ce ain indus ies such as mining and manu ac u ing posing highe isks [26,
27]. No ably, a signi ican p opo ion o indi iduals wi h COPD ha e ne e smoked, unde sco ing he c i ical ole o
occupa ional ac o s in he disease's e iology.
Pneumoconiosis e e s o a g oup o in e s i ial lung diseases caused by he inhala ion o mine al dus , leading o lung
ib osis. Common ypes include silicosis, esul ing om silica dus exposu e, and asbes osis, om asbes os ibe s [28].
These condi ions a e p e alen among wo ke s in mining, cons uc ion, and manu ac u ing indus ies whe e such dus
exposu e is signi ican [29].
Hype sensi i i y pneumoni is is an in lamma o y synd ome o he lung caused by epe i i e inhala ion o o ganic dus
and ce ain chemicals, leading o an immune esponse in he al eoli. I is commonly obse ed in ag icul u al and ex ile
wo ke s exposed o dus om moldy hay, bi d d oppings, o con amina ed humidi ie s. Symp oms include cough,
sho ness o b ea h, and e e , which may become ch onic wi h con inued exposu e [30,31].

The p ope use o PPE is c ucial in mi iga ing exposu e o ha m ul subs ances in he wo kplace. Inadequa e o imp ope
use o equipmen such as espi a o s can lead o highe exposu e le els and an inc eased isk o disease [35]. Fo
example, du ing eme gency si ua ions whe e PPE usage may be comp omised, wo ke s can expe ience signi ican
exposu e o oxic subs ances, leading o long- e m heal h diso de s, including espi a o y diseases. This highligh s he
necessi y o igo ous aining and en o cemen o PPE p o ocols o p o ec wo ke s e ec i ely.
Smoking exace ba es he e ec s o occupa ional exposu es and signi ican ly inc eases he isk o de eloping espi a o y
diseases. Tobacco smoke is a well-es ablished isk ac o o ch onic espi a o y condi ions, and when combined wi h
occupa ional haza ds, i can lead o mo e se e e disease p og ession [36]. No ably, a conside able p opo ion o COPD
cases a e a ibu ed o occupa ional exposu es, pa icula ly among indi iduals who ha e ne e smoked, unde sco ing
he compounded isk ha smoking in oduces [37].

indus ies like mining and cons uc ion [42, 43]. Enclosing p ocesses ha gene a e haza dous subs ances u he

highligh ing he need o con inuous moni o ing and assessmen .
In eg a ing a i icial in elligence (AI) and eal- ime moni o ing sys ems could e olu ionize wo kplace haza d de ec ion
and ea ly disease in e en ion, enabling mo e p oac i e app oaches o occupa ional heal h [50, 51]. AI-d i en diagnosis
and moni o ing in espi a o y ca e is an eme ging ield ha aims o imp o e he de ec ion and ea men o espi a o y
diseases using sma wea able de ices and eal- ime da a analysis [52, 53]. Fo example, AI sys ems can collec and
classi y bio signals such as cough, body empe a u e, and ai low, p o iding accu a e and imely diagnosis o espi a o y
illnesses, including COVID-19, as hma, and COPD.
Resea ch in o he long- e m heal h ou comes o wo ke s exposed o complex mix u es o ai bo ne con aminan s is
essen ial o de elop comp ehensi e isk assessmen models [54]. New occupa ional agen s wi h unknown espi a o y

ha e p e-exis ing espi a o y condi ions, poses new challenges in diagnosing and managing occupa ional lung diseases
[57,58].

absen eeism, educed p oduc i i y, and subs an ial economic bu dens on heal hca e sys ems. Add essing his issue
