Discussion
Gonyos omus elinae can be dis inguished om G. go-
nios omus and G. insula is in ha ing a much wide

G. elinae is mo e simila o G. eg egius, sha ing wi h i

G. eg egius is clea ly b oade han expec ed i he

(i. e. no ma kings) in he basal pa o he body who l
(a ound he umbilicus) (Figs 1, 5, 6); he h ee o he
species ha e an unin e up ed pa e n o colou all
he way down o he pe iumbilical a ea (Simone 2006:
202-203). The new species has a comple ely whi e
pe is ome, which is conside ably mo e expanded

Despi e he lack o in o ma ion on he so pa s,

The ounded p o oconch and he an e io ly angu-

species canno be a ibu ed o Mo icandia Pilsb y &

The genus Gonyos omus was p e iously con-
side ed endemic o Sou heas e n B azil, occu ing

The p esen eco ds o G. elinae a e he i s occu -

The desc ip ion o new species o B azilian land

Based on he sca ci y o he ma e ial, he new species’
