Rele ance. Senna angus i olia Vahl. (syn. Cassia angus i olia Vahl), om he Fabaceae amily,
is a aluable medicinal plan ha g ows in he dese egions o Sudan, Saudi A abia, and Somalia. I
is cul i a ed in Russia, Aze baijan, and he Su khanda ya egion o Uzbekis an. Senna lea es a e
among he oldes adi ional emedies used in olk medicine as a na u al laxa i e.
The he apeu ic e ec is p ima ily due o aloe-emodin and he an h aquinone glycosides
sennosides A and B. Resinous subs ances p esen in he lea es may cause in es inal discom o i
in usions a e p epa ed inco ec ly. The lea es and plan ex ac s ha e long been used no only as a
laxa i e, bu also o ea ing li e and gallbladde diso de s.
Objec i e o he s udy: To in es iga e he lipids o S. angus i olia lea es collec ed in he
Su khanda ya egion.
Ma e ials and Me hods. Neu al lipids (NL) we e ex ac ed om he powde ed plan ma e ial
by iple mace a ion using ex ac ion-g ade pe oleum e he . Pola lipids (PL) we e ob ained om he
emaining plan esidue by iple ex ac ion wi h a chlo o o m: me hanol mix u e (2:1, / ). The
composi ion o NL classes was de e mined by hin-laye ch oma og aphy (TLC) using sol en
sys ems hexane:die hyl e he (4:1 and 3:2, / ). Visualiza ion was pe o med using iodine apo s and
50% H2SO₄ ollowed by hea ing. Alkaline hyd olysis o NL was ca ied ou using 10% KOH in
me hanol. The esul ing a y acids we e me hyla ed wi h diazome hane. Fa y acid composi ion was
analyzed by gas ch oma og aphy (GC) using an Agilen 8860GC ch oma og aph.
Resul s.The S. angus i olia lea samples had a mois u e con en o 7.8% and con ained 2.3%
neu al lipids (NL) and 6.6% pola lipids (PL). The NL ac ion was ound o con ain hyd oca bons,
ee a y acids, an h aquinones (R 0.37, da k ed spo ), es e s wi h alipha ic alcohols, i e penols
and phy os e ols, as well as ee i e penols and phy os e ols. T iacylglyce ols we e p esen in ace
amoun s in he lea lipid ac ion. Fa y acids we e isola ed om he NL ac ion, me hyla ed wi h
diazome hane, and analyzed (see able).

componen s, wi h a dominance o unsa u a ed a y acids. Among he unsa u a ed a y acids o he
neu al lipids in he lea es, he highes con ibu ion is made by ienoic acid (α-linolenic acid, 18:3
(24.11%)), which is absen in he seed lipids.
