The “Sogdiana” Uzbek Folk Ins umen s Chambe O ches a was ounded in 1991 by P o esso

Each membe o he o ches a is a highly skilled solois wi h a b igh c ea i e indi iduali y. The
ensemble pe o ms on adi ional Uzbek ins umen s such as ubab, du a , ud, nay, su nay,
qoshnay, chang, and doi a. The o ches a aims o p ese e he ancien adi ions o Uzbek musical
pe o mance, and o expand musical communica ion by holding iendship conce s and c ea i e
mee ings wi h musicians om a ound he wo ld.
“Sogdiana” is a highly p o essional ensemble wi h a epe oi e o mo e han 700 wo ks ep esen ing
a ious na ional s yles and pe iods. In 1996, he o ches a won he i le o lau ea e a an in e na ional
es i al in Spain.
The main ocus o “Sogdiana” lies in explo ing he in e ac ion be ween Eas e n and Wes e n
musical adi ions. The ensemble has pa icipa ed in nume ous in e na ional es i als and
con e ences held in Russia (1993), Kazakhs an (1994), Ge many (1995, 1998, 1999), F ance,
Egyp (1997, 1998), Sou h Ko ea (1996, 1997), and he USA (2002). In 2001, F. Abdu akhimo a
o ganized and conduc ed he “Tashken Sp ing – 2001” In e na ional Fes i al o Folk Ins umen
Ensembles and O ches as, which ea u ed pa icipan s om F ance, Indonesia, Ta a s an,
Kazakhs an, and Ky gyzs an.
A signi ican miles one in he o ches a’s his o y was 1996, when he ensemble ecei ed a ce i ica e
o ecogni ion o high p o essional pe o mance in Log oño, Spain, becoming he i s Eas e n
musical ensemble o pa icipa e in he es i al. The o ches a’s use o a ious Uzbek olk
ins umen s—nay, qoshnai, su nay, doi a, nago a, chang—g ea ly imp essed bo h specialis s and
audiences.

The pe o mance also ea u ed Uzbek singe s Se a a Naza khan and Ra shan Namozo , whose
collabo a ion wi h he in e na ional o ches a deligh ed audiences. The join c ea i e wo k o he
“Sogdiana” o ches a and he “I on Ho se” g oup demons a ed ha h ough sha ed a is ic e o s,
new cul u al phenomena can eme ge, uni ing people in he spi i o goodwill.
In 2013, wi h he suppo o he Ge man Embassy, “Sogdiana” c ea ed musical accompanimen o
he silen Ge man ilm “The Doll” (1919) di ec ed by E ns Lubi sch. The p ojec was success ully
p esen ed in Tashken , Fe gana, Andijan, Namangan, and o he ci ies. The o ches a pe o med an
hou -long sound ack blending Eu opean and Uzbek classical and pop music s yles. Each musical
piece ha moniously ma ched he ilm’s s o yline, c ea ing a uni ied a is ic imp ession.
