Osiyo) and wo b eeding lines (VI-060020 A-G, and VI-062909) we e es ed acco ding o he
In e na ional Seed Tes ing Associa ion (ISTA, 2023) ules. In each eplica ion, 15 seeds we e
used and he expe imen was conduc ed in h ee eplica ions. The esul s showed ha he highes
ge mina ion a e was eco ded in he Du dona cul i a (91.90%) and VI-062909 line (92.57%),
which we e classi ied in o he i s ca ego y. Meanwhile, Osiyo (88.06%) and VI-060020 A-G
(83.68%) demons a ed ela i ely lowe ge mina ion and we e classi ied in o he second
ca ego y. These esul s indica e ha Du dona and VI-062909 can be conside ed as p omising
gene ic esou ces o u he b eeding and seed p oduc ion.

In oduc ion. Mung bean (Vigna adia a L.) is an impo an legume c op
cha ac e ized by i s high p o ein con en and ag onomic ad an ages. Seed quali y
and ge mina ion ha e a di ec impac on c op p oduc i i y and ield es ablishmen
e iciency. The e o e, e alua ing seed ge mina ion unde labo a o y condi ions is
essen ial o assessing he biological po en ial o di e en a ie ies.
Acco ding o B. Kosbe geno a [4; pp. 66–68], mung bean a ie ies
cul i a ed in ou Republic a e mos ly medium-ma u ing, la e-ma u ing, o e y
la e-ma u ing, wi h a ege a ion pe iod anging om 85 o 120 days. Cul i a ed
mung bean a ie ies a e classi ied in o i e g oups based on he leng h o hei
ege a ion pe iod: e y ea ly-ma u ing (60–75 days), ea ly-ma u ing (75–90 days),
medium-ma u ing (85–105 days), la e-ma u ing (100–115 days), and e y la e-
ma u ing (mo e han 115 days). Acco ding o H. N. A abaye a and Kh. A. Id iso
[1; pp. 422–426], lea de elopmen is di ec ly dependen on he sowing ime and
seeding a e. When mung bean is sown in ea ly July, he numbe o lea es
inc eases; howe e , wi h an inc ease in seeding a e, he numbe o lea es

eaches i s highes alue ac oss all sowing da es. Ne e heless, as he sowing da e
is delayed, a dec easing end in lea a ea is obse ed.
Acco ding o I. Is ailo [2; pp. 11–14], an inc ease in sowing densi y in
mung bean a ie ies educes he amoun o d y ma e accumula ed pe plan . This
indica o is also di ec ly dependen on he sowing da e, wi h la e sowings leading
o a dec ease in d y ma e con en . Fo example, in ea ly sowing a ian s plan ed
on June 25, he d y ma e con en depending on he seeding a e was 47.0–51.1 g
in he a ie y “Rados ”, 48–52 g in “Du dona”, and 49.5–53 g in “Zilola”. Based
on hese indings, i is ecommended o sow mung bean a ea lie da es in epea ed
c opping sys ems o ensu e highe p oduc i i y. The pu pose o his s udy is o
de e mine and compa e he labo a o y seed ge mina ion o wo mung bean
a ie ies and wo b eeding lines.
Ma e ials and me hods. The expe imen was conduc ed unde labo a o y
condi ions. The s udy in ol ed wo mung bean a ie ies, Du dona and Osiyo, as
well as wo b eeding lines, VI-060020 A-G and VI-062909. The expe imen was
a anged in h ee eplica ions, wi h 15 seeds used in each eplica ion.
Seed ge mina ion was de e mined in acco dance wi h he ules o he
In e na ional Seed Tes ing Associa ion (ISTA) [2; p. 72]. The seeds we e placed on
mois ened il e pape in Pe i dishes and obse ed o 8 days a a empe a u e o
25 ± 2 °C. Th oughou he expe imen , mois u e was consis en ly main ained.

Resul s. The esul s o he labo a o y expe imen s demons a ed signi ican
di e ences among he mung bean a ie ies and lines. The Du dona a ie y
(91.90%) and he VI-062909 line (92.57%) exhibi ed high ge mina ion a es and
we e classi ied as belonging o he i s ca ego y. This indica es ha he seeds o
hese a ie y and line ha e main ained good quali y pa ame e s and possess
biologically ac i e seeds. The Osiyo a ie y (88.06%) and he VI-060020 A-G line
(83.68%) we e classi ied in o he second ca ego y, demons a ing a mode a e le el
o seed ge mina ion. This may be a ibu ed o ac o s such as he physiological
ma u i y o he seeds, s o age condi ions, o hei gene ic cha ac e is ics.
In gene al, he a ie ies and lines ha demons a ed highe ge mina ion a es
possess ad an ages o b eeding and seed p oduc ion, and i is expec ed ha hey
will also pe o m well unde ield condi ions. Based on he esul s, i is concluded

Conclusion and ecommenda ions. The esul s o he labo a o y s udies
showed ha he Du dona a ie y and he VI-062909 line demons a ed high
ge mina ion a es and we e iden i ied as p omising in e ms o seed quali y. In
con as , he Osiyo a ie y and he VI-060020 A-G line exhibi ed a e age
ge mina ion pe o mance.
The indings con i m ha applying high-ge mina ion a ie ies and es ing
hem in la ge-scale ield ials will u he enhance he e iciency o mung bean
cul i a ion. Mo eo e , he use o p omising seeds will accele a e b eeding
ac i i ies and con ibu e o he de elopmen o high-quali y plan ing ma e ial
wi hin he seed p oduc ion sys em.
