Abs ac
Physical educa ion and game lesson is one o he compulso y subjec s augh by class eache s in g ades 1, 2, and
3 o 5 class hou s and in g ade 4 o 2 class hou s. Wi h he lowe ing o he s a ing age o school in 2012, he
impo ance o play in child de elopmen has been emphasized, and he Physical Educa ion lesson has been
changed o Physical Educa ion and Game Ac i i ies, wi h an inc ease in class hou s. This subjec was enamed as
Physical Educa ion and Game in 2018 and is s ill one o he subjec s wi h he highes numbe o class hou s in he
p ima y school cu iculum. This esea ch aims o examine a icles and heses on physical educa ion and game
lessons. Desc ip i e con en analysis echnique was used in his s udy, and he uni e se o he s udy consis s o
a icles, mas e 's heses, and doc o al disse a ions in his ield. Pu pose ul sampling me hod was used o sampling,
and he sample o he s udy consis s o a o al o 36 s udies eached in he sea ches wi h he keywo ds o physical
educa ion and game lesson in YÖK Thesis, Google Schola , and De gipa k da abases. I was ound ha 14 o hese
s udies we e a icles, 3 we e doc o al disse a ions, and 19 we e mas e 's heses. Acco ding o he indings o he
esea ch; i is obse ed ha he mos s udies we e conduc ed in 2022, and ou o hese s udies, 5 we e mas e 's
heses, 1 was a doc o al disse a ion, and 4 we e a icles. I was de e mined ha he majo i y o he s udies we e in
he ield o educa ional sciences (55.6%), and mas e 's heses cons i u ed he majo i y. I is obse ed ha he s udies
we e mos ly conduc ed using quan i a i e and quali a i e me hods. Su eys and scales we e mos ly u ilized in he
s udies. In conclusion, i is obse ed ha he e a e ew s udies in his ield, and he quan i y a he doc o al le el is
also no ewo hy. I is belie ed ha expe imen al s udies conduc ed by physical educa ion and spo s eache s will
g ea ly con ibu e o he ield.

de si ola ak değiş i ilmiş ay ıca de s saa le i de a ı ılmış ı . Bu de s 2018 yılında isim değişikliği ile Beden Eği imi e
Oyun adını almış günümüzde halen ilkokul mü eda ında en çok de s saa i olan de sle den bi i ola ak
oku ulmak adı . Bu a aş ı ma ile, Beden eği imi e oyun de si üze ine yapılan makale e ezle in incelenmesi
amaçlanmış ı . Be imsel içe ik analizi ekniği kullanılan bu çalışmanın e enini bu alanda yapılan makalele , yüksek
lisans e dok o a ezle i oluş u mak adı . Ö nekleme yön emle inden amaçlı ö nekleme yön emi kullanılmış e
a aş ı manın ö neklemini YÖK Tez, Google Akademik e De gi pa k e i abanla ında beden eği imi e oyun de si
anah a kelimesi ile yapılan a amada ulaşılan oplam 36 çalışma oluş u mak adı . Bu çalışmala ın 14’ünü makale,
3’ünü dok o a ezi e 19’unu yüksek lisans ezle inin oluş u duğu espi edilmiş i . A aş ı manın bulgula ına gö e;
en azla çalışmanın 2022 yılında yapıldığı e bu çalışmala ın 5 anesinin yüksek lisans ezi, 1 anesinin dok o a ezi
e 4 anesinin makale olduğu gö ülmek edi . En azla çalışmanın eği im bilimle i alanında (%55,6) olduğu e yüksek
lisans ezle inin oluş u duğu espi edilmiş i . Çalışmala ın daha çok nicel e ni el yön emle kullanıla ak yapıldığı
gö ülmek edi . Çalışmala da en çok anke e ölçekle den ya a lanılmış ı . Sonuç ola ak bu alanda az sayıda
çalışmanın olduğu gö ülmüş e dok o a se iyesinde de bu nicelik dikka e değe di . Beden eği imi e spo

In Tü kiye, p ima y educa ion is compulso y o 4 yea s. Du ing hese ou yea s,
s uden s a e equi ed o a end 30 hou s o classes each week. The Minis y o Na ional
Educa ion's Boa d o Educa ion and Discipline (TTKB) de e mines weekly lesson hou s
and communica es hem o he ele an ins i u ions. The subjec o esea ch, Physical
Educa ion and Games, is among he compulso y cou ses in p ima y schools. Wi h he
implemen a ion o he 12-yea (4+4+4) compulso y educa ion sys em in 2012, he
Physical Educa ion cou se was enamed as Games and Physical Ac i i ies, and in a
subsequen change in 2018, i was enamed back o Physical Educa ion and Games. This
cou se is augh by class oom eache s in p ima y schools.
The objec i es o Tu kish Na ional Educa ion a e ou lined in he Basic Law o
Na ional Educa ion, which was adop ed in 1973. In he second pu pose o his law, i is
emphasized ha child en should de elop a heal hy and balanced cha ac e and
pe sonali y in mo al, physical, men al, and spi i ual aspec s; and ha hey should be
aised as indi iduals who possess scien i ic hinking, a e ee, espec ul o human igh s,
awa e o social esponsibili y, and a e c ea i e and p oduc i e. The Physical Educa ion
and Games cou se has been included in he cu iculum wi h he aim o con ibu ing o
s uden s' heal hy and balanced g ow h in mo al, men al, physical, and spi i ual aspec s.
The cu iculum o his cou se aims o de elop s uden s' undamen al mo emen skills,
ac i e and heal hy li ing s a egies, concep s, and ela ed li e skills ha hey will use
h oughou hei li es, he eby p epa ing hem o he nex le el o educa ion (Minis y
o Na ional Educa ion, 2018).
The apid sp ead o echnology and he inc easing amoun o ime child en spend
wi h echnological de ices om a young age ha e made i necessa y o implemen
ac i i ies in schools o mee he need o physical ac i i y. A slan (2008) emphasizes ha
wi h he in ense in eg a ion o echnology in o ou li es, apid u baniza ion, and he
s ess b ough abou by li ing condi ions, spo s and physical educa ion ac i i ies should
become a habi . He s a es ha he mos app op ia e age g oup o acqui ing his habi is
p ima y school s uden s. Memiş and Yıldı an (2006) also exp ess ha i habi s o playing
and engaging in spo s a e no es ablished du ing p ima y school h ough physical
educa ion classes, indi iduals will ine i ably ace di icul ies in u ilizing hei leisu e ime
and pa icipa ing in heal hy ac i i ies as hey g ow olde .
In p ima y schools, one o he cou ses o e ed o de elop s uden s' skills, in addi ion
o academic subjec s, is Physical Educa ion and Games. In his cou se, s uden s no only
engage in physical ac i i ies bu also ha e he oppo uni y o socialize by de eloping he
habi o playing oge he . Dalaman and Ko kmaz (2010) s a e ha adop ing an ac i e
li es yle h ough games a school signi ican ly enhances he physical skills o child en
aged 6 o 12 and con ibu es o hei social de elopmen . Playing and mo ing eely is a
child's mos na u al igh ; he e o e, schools should o ganize ac i i ies ha encou age
child en o lea n h ough play in ee en i onmen s a he han dep i ing hem o his
igh . Özşake and O kun (2005) exp ess ha physical educa ion and spo s classes a e
a i al componen o gene al educa ion, ensu ing child en's igh s o mo e eely and
play. This si ua ion con ibu es o child en's de elopmen bo h physically and men ally,
and allows hem o enjoy spo s ac i i ies.
Pe ay (1989) emphasizes ha physical educa ion classes ha e dis inc goals, such
as ensu ing s uden s main ain hei physical i ness h oughou hei li es and
de eloping heal hy ac i i y habi s. The Na ional Associa ion o Spo and Physical
Educa ion (NASPE) de ines he p ima y aim o he cou se as helping s uden s inc ease
hei physical ac i i y le els h oughou hei li es and os e ing posi i e a i udes

(2000) and O'Sulli an (1996) s a e ha class oom eache s wi h well-s uc u ed
expe iences in eaching physical educa ion unde s and he impo ance o he subjec and
de elop a posi i e a i ude owa d i .
Acco ding o he weekly lesson schedule published by he TTKB in 2018, a o al o
30 lesson hou s is equi ed in p ima y schools each week. The Physical Educa ion and
Games cou se is included as a compulso y subjec o 5 hou s pe week in he i s h ee
g ades and 2 hou s in he ou h g ade (Boa d o Educa ion and Discipline, 2018). When
we look a he p opo ion o manda o y lesson hou s o his cou se, i accoun s o 16.6%
o he o al lesson hou s in he i s h ee g ades and 6.66% in he ou h g ade.
Addi ionally, he use o Physical Ac i i y Ca ds (PAC) and he "I Am Playing"
Compila ion Bookle is ecommended o eache s and s uden s, alongside he cou se
con en . This cou se is s uc u ed a ound wo lea ning a eas and six sub-lea ning a eas
(Minis y o Na ional Educa ion, 2018).
The main aim o his s udy is o iden i y a icles ela ed o he Physical Educa ion
and Games cou se augh in p ima y schools, published be ween 2019 and 2024 in De gi
Pa k and Google Schola , as well as open-access heses a ailable in he Highe Educa ion
Council Thesis Cen e , and o examine hem h ough a ious pa ame e s. In his

Me hod

a icles. The publica ion classi ica ion o m de eloped by Çil aş e al. (2012) o
ma hema ics educa ion was eo ganized by esea che s o he pu pose o his s udy. The
sec ions o he publica ion classi ica ion o m we e illed wi h in o ma ion ob ained om
he con en s o he heses and a icles. The da a ob ained om he s udies examined
wi hin he scope o he esea ch we e collec ed in he publica ion classi ica ion o ms
and p esen ed as pe cen age and equency alues.
Da a Collec ion
In his sec ion, he da a collec ion p ocesses used in he esea ch and he applica ion pa
o he s udy should be explained in de ail. The explana ions should p esen he posi i e
and nega i e de elopmen s ha occu ed du ing he p ocess and how hese p ocesses
we e managed o he eade .
Be o e he s udy, he publica ions wi hin he scope o he esea ch we e iden i ied by he
esea che , and a wo k plan was c ea ed. To ensu e he eliabili y o he s udy,
app oxima ely 20% o he wo ks we e andomly selec ed using a c oss-checking me hod,
and he in o ma ion ela ed o hese wo ks was e-examined o ensu e consis ency. The
o mula used o eliabili y calcula ion was “Reliabili y = Ag eemen / (Disag eemen +
Ag eemen ),” and he eliabili y coe icien o he esea ch was de e mined o be 0.87
(Miles and Hube man, 1994).

This esea ch examines a o al o 36 wo ks, including 22 heses and 14 a icles published
be ween 2019 and 2024 in he YÖK Thesis Cen e , De gi Pa k, and Google Schola ,
ela ed o he p ima y school Physical Educa ion and Games cou se. The in o ma ion
ega ding he ype o publica ions and hei publica ion enues is p esen ed in Table 1.

Discussion And Conclusion
This s udy examines esea ch conduc ed on physical educa ion and play classes in
p ima y schools in Tü kiye be ween he yea s 2019 and 2024. The ime ame is de ined
because he play and physical ac i i ies cou se was changed o physical educa ion and
play class in he 2018-2019 academic yea . S udies ela ed o physical educa ion play
classes applied in kinde ga ens and a icles p oduced om he heses examined we e
excluded om he scope o he esea ch. The majo i y o he s udies (%52,7) consis o
mas e 's hesis wo ks.
In his s udy, i was ound ha among he publica ions examined, he highes numbe o
esea ch s udies was conduc ed in 2022 (%27,7), ollowed by 2021 (%19,5). Due o he
COVID-19 pandemic, he leas esea ch was conduc ed in 2020 (%8,4). The inc easing
conce n abou echnology addic ion and he unde s anding o he impo ance o
physical ac i i y in child en, along wi h changes in educa ional policies speci ically
ela ed o physical educa ion and play classes, sugges ha he e has been an o e all
inc ease in he numbe o publica ions in ecen yea s. Yılmaz and Ku (2019) iden i ied
he yea s 2012-2018 as a limi a ion in hei s udy i led "Analysis o Resea ch Conduc ed
on Physical Educa ion and Play Classes in Tü kiye," whe e hey ound ha 96% o s udies
ela ed o physical educa ion and play classes we e conduc ed in he ield o physical
educa ion and spo s. Howe e , in ou analysis co e ing he yea s 2019-2024, i was
ound ha he majo i y o he s udies (%55,6) we e conduc ed in he ield o educa ional
sciences. This esul indica es ha he e is also signi ican a en ion gi en o s udies
ela ed o physical educa ion and spo s wi hin he ield o educa ional sciences. When
