Emo ional analysis sys ems—also known as a ec i e compu ing—use machine lea ning
algo i hms o in e p e human eelings h ough oice pa e ns, acial mic o-exp essions, body
language, and beha io al da a. While hese echnologies we e i s applied in sec o s such as
ma ke ing, secu i y, and heal hca e, hey a e now inc easingly en e ing p i a e spaces, including
he home. As amilies adop sma de ices, i ual assis an s, and AI-powe ed applica ions capable
o de ec ing emo ional s a es, he na u e o amily ela ionships is unde going a no iceable
ans o ma ion.

As emo ional analysis becomes inc easingly ad anced and accessible, unde s anding i s
b oade social and psychological consequences is essen ial. This pape examines he dual
impac —bo h cons uc i e and p oblema ic—o AI-based emo ional analysis sys ems on amily
ela ionships. By analyzing how hese echnologies shape communica ion, us , and emo ional
well-being, he s udy aims o p o ide a balanced pe spec i e on hei ole in he mode n amily
and o emphasize he impo ance o e hical, hough ul in eg a ion.

di e ences, neu odi e gence, o complex emo ional s a es a e in ol ed. Fo example, an AI
sys em migh in e p e a child’s quie ness as sadness when i is simply a sign o in o e sion, o i
migh label a pa en ’s se ious one as ange when i is ac ually concen a ion. Such mis eadings
can lead o unnecessa y ension, misplaced conce n, o un ai assump ions ha dis o amily
dynamics. In ex eme cases, amilies may become o e ly dependen on AI-gene a ed emo ional
insigh s, g adually losing con idence in hei own in e pe sonal in ui ion.
Dependence on AI o emo ional unde s anding can eshape he powe s uc u e wi hin he
