• Concep o Response Bias
Response bias occu s when esponden s p o ide inaccu a e o

DISCUSSION
Does Social Science Fail?
I is emp ing o claim ha bias ende s social science in alid.
Howe e , as Bha ache jee (2012) and GESIS guidelines
(Bogne & Land ock, 2016) asse , awa eness and mi iga ion o
bias cons i u e scien i ic ma u i y. Unlike na u al sciences,
whe e a iables can be con olled ex e nally, social sciences
s udy sel -in e p e ing beings. Thus, a iabili y is in insic, no
ex aneous. The aim is no o elimina e bias bu o ecognise,

C i ics o en a gue ha human subjec i i y makes social science

Howe e , his c i ique o e looks he adap i e igou ha

Fu he mo e, he ins abili y o esponses can i sel p o ide

The e o e, a he han s i ing o s a ic u h, esea che s

as expe ience sampling me hods (ESM) and implici associa ion

CONCLUSION
Bias a ising om a ansien mindse is an una oidable ye
manageable challenge in ques ionnai e esea ch. Human

Recognising his duali y s eng hens a he han weakens social
