Backg ound: A i icial In elligence (AI) is e olu ionizing medical educa ion and
clinical decision-making. Despi e i s g owing impo ance, s uc u ed aining
among pos g adua e (PG) medical s uden s emains limi ed1. This s udy aims o
assess he knowledge, a i ude, and p ac ice (KAP) owa ds AI among pos g adua e
medical s uden s in Tamil Nadu3.
Me hods: A desc ip i e c oss-sec ional online su ey was conduc ed among 74
pos g adua e medical s uden s using a alida ed Google Fo m. The ques ionnai e
assessed awa eness, pe cep ion, and p ac ical exposu e owa d AI in medicine2.
Da a we e analyzed using desc ip i e s a is ics and displayed as cha s o be e
isualiza ion4.
Resul s: Among esponden s, 91.9% we e awa e o AI and 58.1% knew i s medical
applica ions. Howe e , only 29.7% had o mal aining. While 87% suppo ed AI
in eg a ion in o he cu iculum, 59% exp essed conce n abou e hical issues and
da a secu i y. A posi i e a i ude was obse ed in o e 80% o pa icipan s owa d
AI’s ole in imp o ing diagnos ics and accessibili y.
Conclusion: Pos g adua e s uden s exhibi high en husiasm o AI in eg a ion,
hough knowledge gaps pe sis . Inco po a ion o s uc u ed AI aining and e hical
sensi iza ion wi hin medical cu icula is c ucial o u u e- eady heal hca e
p o essionals.

MATERIALS AND METHODS
S udy Design: A desc ip i e c oss-sec ional s udy was conduc ed be ween Oc obe 2024 o Janua y 2025 among
pos g adua e medical s uden s in Tamil Nadu. An online Google Fo m ques ionnai e based on alida ed in e na ional
ools was used o assess knowledge, a i ude, and p ac ice owa d AI.

RESULTS
Ou o 74 pa icipan s, 91.9% we e awa e o AI, while only 40.5% had s ong ounda ional knowledge. Abou 58.1%
iden i ied medical applica ions o AI, whe eas o mal eaching exposu e was only 29.7%. AI- ela ed cou se pa icipa ion
was limi ed (32.4%), and e hical awa eness emained mode a e (59%). Howe e , a posi i e a i ude owa d AI’s ole in
clinical imp o emen was seen in o e 80% o esponden s.

DISCUSSION
The s udy demons a es ha pos g adua e s uden s possess s ong awa eness bu limi ed o mal educa ion on AI. This
e lec s a global pa e n whe e en husiasm p ecedes s uc u ed aining10. The indings a e compa able o hose o Pe ie
e al. (2022), who epo ed ha only 5% o young pedia icians had ecei ed AI aining1 Ba ie s such as lack o
cu iculum in eg a ion, insu icien acul y aining, and absence o in e disciplina y exposu e con ibu e o his gap12.
S uden s exp essed e hical and da a secu i y conce ns, aligning wi h he global need o obus AI go e nance11.
Ne e heless, he willingness o adop AI-based ools and he demand o o mal aining e lec eadiness among
medical ainees o digi al ans o ma ion in heal hca e13.

CONCLUSION
The s udy concludes ha while pos g adua e medical s uden s in Tamil Nadu a e awa e o AI and i s po en ial, he e
exis s a signi ican gap in s uc u ed lea ning8. In oducing AI modules in medical cu iculum, along wi h acul y
sensi iza ion and hands-on wo kshops, is i al. A mul idisciplina y app oach in eg a ing medicine, da a science, and
e hics can b idge his educa ional di ide9.
