INTRODUCTION
Geohe i age si es, cha ac e ized by unique geological o ma ions and no able paleon ological
impo ance, o e conside able p ospec s o geo ou ism. We assessed he geo ou ism po en ial
in India h ough a mul idisciplina y app oach encompassing pho og aphic e alua ions, on-si e
inspec ions o mo phological ea u es, and accessibili y assessmen s, o de e mine conse a ion
needs. U ilizing eadily accessible geological epo s, a chaeological documen a ion, Landsa
sa elli e image y, Google Ea h Engine da a, and pe inen go e nmen publica ions a ailable
o he public, we endea ou ed o comp ehend he geoscien i ic ele ance o hese geological
loca ions. This e alua ion also conside ed he expec ed en i onmen al and human-induced
h ea s while iden i ying ulne able a eas. The a emp is o deciphe he measu es necessa y o
p ese e he geohe i age o he coun y, which can add economic alue.
P oblem S a emen
India’s ex ensi e geohe i age, anging om gigan ic peaks o coas al plains ep esen ing he
geological ime, e eals a ich geological his o y. Howe e , he coun y’s neglec o i s geologic
he i age is deeply conce ning. The need o he hou is swi scien i ic ac ion and sus enance o
he momen um c ea ed o make his concep a way o li e. The e o s need o be unde aken on
an eme gency basis, as his can add alue o he go e nmen ’s a ge o making India de eloped
by 2047.
Concep o Geoe hics, and Geohe i age
The in oduc ion o he e m 'geoe hics' ep esen s geoscien is s' e o s o be e align hei
p o essional esponsibili ies wi h he wide socie al consequences o geosciences. The h ee
ounda ional elemen s o geoe hics— he indi idual geoscien is , he geoscience p o ession, and
socie y—in e ac wi h he plane we inhabi . The obliga ions o each o hese elemen s owa ds
he ea h o m he co e alue p oposi ion o geoe hics. The e hical guidelines a e designed o
minimize he nega i e impac s o human ac i i ies, including hose ela ed o leisu e and
economics, on people's li es. India is cu en ly de eloping in as uc u e o suppo i s swi
economic g ow h. Geoe hics, as a bu geoning ield wi hin he ea h sciences, o e s inno a i e

wi h he in oduc ion o he d a Geohe i age bill, ac i i ies in his key sec o a e a a snail’s
pace, equi ing immedia e ac ion.
