In oduc ion
The lea hoppe genus Scaphomonoides Li, 2011 was es ab-
lished in Li e al. (2011) wi h Scapho e ix eds ipeus Li &
Wang, 2005, om China, as i s ype and only species. Sub-
sequen ly, he genus was e-assessed by Wei e al. (2025)
and i s ype species eco ded om Vie nam. In he p esen
pape , Scaphomonoides and S. eds ipeus a e edesc ibed,
and a new species Scaphomonoides obus us sp. no . is de-
sc ibed and illus a ed om China. The ype specimen o
he new species is deposi ed in he Ins i u e o En omology,
Guizhou Uni e si y, Guiyang, China (GUGC).
Ma e ial and me hods
D y male and emale specimens we e used o he de-
sc ip ions and illus a ions. Ex e nal mo phology was
obse ed unde a s e eoscopic mic oscope and cha -
ac e s we e measu ed wi h an ocula mic ome e . The
geni al segmen s o he examined specimen we e mac-
e a ed in 10% NaOH. Colo pic u es o adul habi us
and he geni alia o specimens we e ob ained by KEY-
ENCE VHX-6000 sys em. Illus a ions we e impo -
ed in o Adobe Pho oshop CS8 o labeling and pla e
composi ion.
The mo phological e minology used in he desc ip-
ions mainly ollows Li e al. (2011), howe e , ha o
leg se al ows ollows Raki o (1997), i.e., AM: an e o-
medial ow, AD: an e odo sal ow, AV: an e o en al
ow, PD: pos e odo sal ow, and IC: in e cala y ow.

E ymology. The new species name is he La in wo d
“ obus us,-a,-um” (= obus , s ou ), e e ing o he ae-
deagus wi h a pai o s ou p ocesses a ising om en al
ma gin nea base.
