The H2IOSC p ojec aims a c ea ing he Humani ies and He i age I alian Open Science Cloud
(H2IOSC): an I alian cloud ne wo k o esea ch in humani ies, linguis ics and he i age science,
by os e ing he collabo a ion o he I alian nodes o 2 ESFRI Landma ks in Social and Cul u al
Inno a ion – CLARIN (Common Language Resou ces and Technology In as uc u e) and
DARIAH (Digi al Resea ch In as uc u e o he A s and Humani ies), and 2 P ojec s in he
same domain – E-RIHS (Eu opean Resea ch In as uc u e o He i age Science), which
became an ERIC in Ma ch 2025, and OPERAS (open schola ly communica ion in he social
sciences and humani ies).

2 STATE OF THE ART OF ACCESS TO H2IOSC RESEARCH
INFRASTRUCTURES
2.1 TRANS-NATIONAL AND NATIONAL ACCESS

As a gene al e m, T ans-na ional access (TNA) can be b oadly de ined as he p ocess by
which use s (as de ined abo e) can access se ices o acili ies loca ed in ano he coun y. The
e m has been used o many decades o e a ange o con ex s and ac o s, including
go e nmen al o ganisa ions, in e na ional ela ions, and scien i ic domains. Na ional access
(NA) e e s o access o se ices and acili ies loca ed in he same coun y as he use .
TNA/NA o RIs en ail he possibili y o accessing se ices, acili ies and esou ces made
a ailable o he Eu opean and global scien i ic communi y, acco ding o speci ic p ocedu es
depending on he ype and s uc u e o he in as uc u e i sel and he da a p o ided.
TNA/NA oppo uni ies ha e s ongly p omo ed in e na ional collabo a ion and ha e
inc eased alue and isibili y o hubs and na ional nodes, by helping esea che s wi h high-
excellence equipmen and knowledge om specialised esea ch si es, labo a o ies and
obse a o ies ac oss he EU. They also p omo e mul i-disciplina ily and mobili y ac oss he
RIs and encou age he expansion o hei se ices o suppo di e se public and p i a e
communi ies in he scien i ic and indus ial sec o s. Maximising he use and access o RIs in
Eu ope is a key ac o o compe i i eness in bo h undamen al and applied esea ch, enabling
collabo a i e esea ch and echnological de elopmen e o s ac oss geog aphical and
disciplina y bounda ies.

each call. Upon ecei ing applica ions, he Helpdesk conduc ed an ini ial eligibili y check o
ensu e compliance wi h H2IOSC TNA/NA egula ions. A e wa ds, se ice p o ide s
conduc ed a echnical, logis ical, and e hical easibili y assessmen on he p oposals
eques ing hei se ice/pilo , by illing up a o m and sha ing de ailed commen s on each
p oposal o he e alua o s.

he ield o Humani ies and Cul u al He i age. The se ices p o ided, as well as any scien i ic
con ibu ions made by he echno-scien i ic assis ance, had o necessa ily be ecognised as
suppo ing he scien i ic ac i i y o he use s. Use s could no use he esou ces o se ices
o illici and/o audulen pu poses and may no in any way engage in beha iou ha

4.4 POST TNA/NA
