In oday's highe educa ion wo ld, English language eaching is becoming a necessi y
o no jus p o ide g ea knowledge o language bu also o p oduce ci izens who a e
awa e o he wo ld and a e socially esponsible. Wi h such global p oblems as clima e
change, o ced mig a ions, en i onmen al des uc ion, and social injus ice becoming
mo e in ense, i is insis ed ha eache s b ing global awa eness in o he lea ning o hei
subjec s, and ha includes he eaching o o eign languages. This me hod is in line
wi h he mode n eaching ha insis s on 21s -cen u y skills, c i ical hinking and global
ci izenship educa ion (UNESCO, 2015). Howe e , many uni e si y EFL class ooms
s ill conduc classes in he adi ional way whe e only ex s a e used, which has e y
ew oppo uni ies o he lea ne s o engage deeply wi h ac ual p oblems o he wo ld.

comp ehending and ackling global issues, o ins ance, clima e change, inequali y, and
