3 SURVEY FINDINGS

p io o he su ey, in line wi h he EPA’s guideline o chemical con amina ion es ing, as epo ed in
Table 3.2. Fo hose who e e had hei wa e es ed, he mos common easons o doing so a e ha
he household egula ly unde akes es s, ha hey had a conce n abou he physical appea ance o hei
wa e supply (e.g., odou o discolou a ion), o because i was a equi emen o a g an applica ion (i.e.,
unde he Ru al Wa e P og amme o imp o emen wo ks o a p i a e wa e supply). Only 7 pe cen
o esponden s indica ed ha hey had hei wa e es ed due o illness conce ns ei he wi hin he amily
o locally. Tha he e wasn’ a p oblem wi h hei d inking wa e supply was he mos common eason
o no ha ing hei wa e es ed, as epo ed by one in wo esponden s who ne e had hei wa e es ed.
