in he ealm o economic g ow h, small and medium en e p ises (sMEs) play a pi o al ole as dynamic
engines o p og ess. hey accoun o 90% o businesses and o e 50% o employmen wo ldwide (iFc,
2018). enowned schola s ha e long hailed hem as c ucial d i e s o compe i ion, economic g ow h,
and job c ea ion, especially in eme ging economies (abisuga-oyekunle E al., 2020; iFc, 2018; Kinds öm
e al., 2024; Wo ld Bank, 2019). Despi e hei immense po en ial, howe e , sMEs ace signi ican chal-
lenges in accessing sus ainable inance, human capi al, and echnological esou ces. hese limi a ions
pose subs an ial h ea s o hei expansion and hinde hei abili y o each hei ull po en ial

o ill his gap and p o ide insigh s in o he ans o ma i e po en ial o c in ea ly-s age i ms in
eme ging economies, wi h a speci ic ocus on Kenya and sou h a ica. his a ea emains la gely

eme ging economies.

o e on o his lis . silicon alley has nu u ed nume ous success ul companies, including Google,

capi al, expe ise, and ne wo ks o g ow h (cummings & Macin osh, 2003; Gompe s e al., 2020). he us

plays a pi o al ole in he success o hese companies, leading o job c ea ion, economic de elopmen ,
and posi i e social change in eme ging na ions (le ne & nanda, 2020).
