The Future Academic Library; Indigenous Issues and Infrastructure Development Policies

Abstract

Libraries must market their resources as academic departments do their research. Our websites can be our best public relations tool only if they are easy of access from their parent or institution's site. Opacs function well at item level but we need to showcase our collections (modern and heritage) with collection level description. Using the expertise and experience of projects and research at home and abroad it is feasible and desirable that COLICO, CONUL and other bodies explore a collaborative approach to a 'Mapping Ireland' project
