Jane iella glechomae (Ta a es, 1930) -äkämäsääski ilmoi e aan ensimmäisen ke an Suomes a. Ha ain o on sa-

Jane iella glechomae elää ain maahumalalla (Glechoma hede acea). Lajin ouka aiheu a a äkämän maahuma-
lan kypsy ään lohkohedelmään. Yhden ai kahden oukan asu ama yksi äinen lohko (me ika ppi) paisuu oi-
makkaas i ja äkämä ulo uu e hiön jään eiden ulkopuolelle. Äkämä on ensin aalea, myöhemmin uskea. Touka
o a pieninä alkeahkoja, äysikas uisina n. 3 mm pi kiä ja o anssin sä yisiä.

land, which now comp ises 356 species (Jaschho ,
Skuh a á & Pen inen 2014). Howe e , only h ee

Jaschho , Skuh a á & Pen inen 2014). This calls o

domyiidae: Cecidomyiinae).

ing in galls on i s only hos plan Glechoma hede acea L.
(Lamiaceae; Finnish name: maahumala). The si e is a lush,
he b- ich mesic pas u e—no g azed a he ime—close o a
a m house nea Taka-Ikola in Jou sa municipali y, Cen al
Finland (YKJ: N6874881:E3455033). The galls induced by
his species consis o one imma u e me ica p, s ongly en-
la ged o a deg ee whe e i p o udes ou o he pe sis en
calyx. The gall is whi ish a i s , bu u ns b own. Inside
he galled ui a e 1–2 la ae, a i s whi ish, bu c. 3 mm
long and dull o ange when ma u e.
Jane iella glechomae was desc ibed in 1930 by he Po u-
guese Jesui and en omologis Joaquim da Sil a Ta a es
(1866–1931) based on ma e ial collec ed in No mandy,
F ance (Ta a es 1930). I seems as i he species ell in o
neglec , as he nex eco ding was as much as 80 yea s la e ,
in 2010 in Bennekom, he Ne he lands (Roskam and Ca -
bonelle 2015). Subsequen ly, se e al indings o he spe-
cies ha e been made in he Ne he lands and Belgium. HHB

he inding in Finland.
The occu ence o J. glechomae in Finland was no di ec ly
expec ed om i s hi he o known dis ibu ion in Cen al Eu-
ope. Howe e , i indica es ha la ge holes in he knowl-
