w i ing he a icles and p in ing he books.
The chap e on ungal diseases is in e es ing, comp ehen-
si e and well w i en. I also includes some discussion on
he apy and con ol me hods. Pa asi es in olume 1 a e
handled in i e chap e s: Mic ospo idia, Ameboid p o-

hem a e enjoyable o ead, well w i en and up- o-da e.
Flagella es a e handled especially comp ehensi ely, as
hey a e impo an disease agen s in eshwa e and
ma ine aquacul u e. I would ha e liked a simila ly ho -
ough handling o Ciliapho a. The lagella e chap e akes
nea ly 100 pages while he cilia e chap e is only abou 30
pages long. The cilia e causing whi e spo disease (Ich hy-
oph hi ius mul i iliis) is discussed a leng h. Howe e , he
me hods desc ibed o ea i a e no up- o-da e. I is no

he No he n hemisphe e, pa asi e numbe s a e kep low

cussed.
In olume 2 he e a e 10 chap e s; se en on pa icula pa -
asi e g oups, as well as chap e s o non-in ec ious dis-
eases, en i onmen al diseases and guides o aquacul u e

The chap e s in his olume a e mo e demanding in he
sense ha he e is much a iabili y in he biology o he
g oups handled, which a e Myxozoa, Monogenea, Dige-
nea, Ces oda, Acan hocephala, Nema oda and C us acea.
These g oups also a y g ea ly in hei impo ance as dis-
ease agen s. Howe e , i he book had been es ic ed o
only hose species causing p oblems in aquacul u e, i
would ha e been much mo e bo ing. Pa asi es also ha e
impo an e ec s on wild ish, hough hey a e no as d a-

mos o he impo an axonomic g oups se e al aspec s
o hei biology we e co e ed, including gene al mo phol-

diseases caused in eshwa e and ma ine sys ems, and in
di e en ish g oups, ea men and p ophylaxis, as well as
p ospec s o u u e esea ch. These a e no handled in all
cases, howe e ; especially in he chap e on Ces odes
pa hogenesis is emphasized o e he o he opics.
The ac is ha ish s ocks all o e he wo ld a e h ea ened
