Snap Shut Slide Imaging Chamber V1

Abstract

The Snap Shut Slide Imaging Chamber V1 is a 3D-printable, reusable chamber designed for stable mounting and live imaging of zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos under a microscope. The chamber has the same outer dimensions as a standard glass slide and can be viewed from either side, allowing consistent sample positioning during optical imaging. The design was inspired by the viewing chamber constructed from standard glass cover slips described in The Zebrafish Book (Westerfield, 2000). The 3D-printed housing secures the viewing chamber with a snap-fit mechanism, enabling rapid sample preparation, compatibility with multiple microscope types and sample orientations, improved reproducibility, and support for open-hardware practices in developmental biology research.
