Abs ac :
The apid g ow h o in o ma ion and communica ion echnology has ans o med eading
habi s adi ional p in -based o ma s o digi al pla o ms such as sma phones, lap ops able s and e-
esou ces. This s udy in es iga es he digi al eading habi s o enginee ing college s uden s in Sangli
dis ic , Maha ash a. This s udy ocused on he awa eness, pu pose and sa is ac ion wi h digi al
eading. Case s udy esea ch design me hod used and ques ionnai e in Google o m p epa ed o he
da a collec ion. This ques ionnai e send o 500 s uden andomly and 225 s uden s was esponse his
ques ionnai e. Desc ip i e s a is ics used o he analyzing he collec ed he da a. Findings o his
s udy he majo i y o he s uden ’s p ima y use sma phones o digi al eading and main pu pose o
digi al eading a e academic pe o mance and exam p epa a ion. O e all s uden s ag eed ha he
digi al eading is mo e con enien , ime sa ing and quick access o in o ma ion compa ed o p in
ma e ials. The s udy concluded ha digi al esou ces ha e become mains eam in enginee ing
educa ion and s uden s a e la gely sa is y wi h hei digi al eading. Resea che sugges ha
lib a ians and educa o s enhance digi al li e acy by o ganize aining and awa eness p og amme o
s uden s.

In he 21s cen u y he ac o eading
has e ol ed signi ican ly. No longe has ime
con ined o p in ed pages, eading inc easingly
akes place on digi al de ices such as
compu e s. Table s, sma phones, and e- eade
ushe in a new pa adigm known as digi al
eading.(EBSCO). Digi al eading has become
an in eg al pa o academic, p o essional and
pe sonal li e. Lib a y adop ed a ious
in o ma ion and communica ion echnology so
adi ional p in based is inc easingly being
eplaced o supplemen ed by digi al o ma s
such as e-books, e-jou nals, digi al lib a ies,
lib a y blogs and mobile based echnology i.e.
mobile app, social ne wo king si es .Digi al
eading has a g ea impac on college s uden s
eading habi s, he e a e many p oblems in he
p ocess o digi al eading such as lack o deep
hinking, weak c i ical consciousness and
sense o inno a ion, which objec i ely shows
ha i is essen ially a kind o “ Shallow
Reading”.( CHEN, 2019)

habi s examined. Reading habi s changed as a
Digi al eading habi in enginee ing and

lea ning / online educa ion sys em o

225 esponden s, he majo esponse was
148(65.8%) male, while 77(34.2%) emale
esponden s. This indica es ha he majo i y o
esponden s is male. The age p o ile shows
ha he majo i y o esponses was younge .
189(84%) esponden s we e be ween he ages
o 18-22 yea s old. Academic yea
dis ibu ion shows ha he majo i y o
esponden s in 139 (61%) second yea .

(11.6%) esponden was no awa e om digi al
eading.

Conclusion:
I was concluded ha he s uden s
mos ly used sma phones o digi al eading,
so ha shows he mobile i s lea ning p ocess.
The main pu pose o he digi al eading is
academic pe o mance as well as exam
p epa a ion. Mos o he s uden s use digi al
ma e ial o s aying upda ed on enginee ing
ends , while some engage occasionally. The
majo i y o s uden s s ongly ag ee ha digi al
eading is mo e con enien , ime sa ing and
easily accessible in o ma ion anywhe e,
any ime. Bu some o he s uden s p epa e
p in ma e ial o concen a ion and com o .

eading, indica ing ha digi al esou ces a e
mains eam in enginee ing educa ion.
