Howe e , while we canno call all p ojec s cu a o ial, he e ha e been cases whe e he e m

exhibi ion. This is whe e he need a ises o s udy and apply he his o y o cu a o ial p ojec s in

Cu a o ial p ojec s occupy a special place in exhibi ion p esen a ion. The eme gence o
cu a o ial p ojec s on a global scale began in he second hal o he 20 h cen u y. I we conside
cu a ing i sel in s ages, i s i s phases da e back o he 18 h and 19 h cen u ies and a e associa ed
wi h museology.
Du ing his pe iod, cu a o s we e no ye called cu a o s, bu hey pe o med p ecisely hese

collec ions on a scien i ic basis. Fo example, he B i ish Museum (1953) and he Lou e (1793)
employed specialized cu a o s wi hin museums.

pe iod, cu a o s began o be iewed no only as cus odians bu also as c ea o s o ideas.

names o amous cu a o s began o be men ioned, o example, Ha ald Szeemann is one such
p ominen cu a o .
He is he au ho o his book “Li e in You Head: When A i udes Become Fo m”. He
became amous o his exhibi ion. I is he who desc ibes cu a o s as “c ea i e di ec o s”.
