al., 2024; Okiye e al., 2025). Mode n acili ies, including
co po a e campuses, heal hca e ins i u ions, educa ional
complexes, and indus ial si es, a e inc easingly complex,
in e connec ed, and echnologically in eg a ed. Sma
building echnologies, In e ne o Things (IoT) sys ems,
p edic i e analy ics, and a i icial in elligence (AI) a e
eshaping he way acili ies a e ope a ed, moni o ed, and
main ained (Nwokediegwu e al., 2024; Annan e al., 2025).
Simul aneously, o ganiza ions a e unde moun ing p essu e o
mee en i onmen al a ge s, implemen ene gy-e icien
solu ions, and ensu e ope a ional esilience in he ace o
clima e change and esou ce cons ain s. These con e ging
ac o s ha e ele a ed he echnical, s a egic, and manage ial
demands on acili y managemen p o essionals, necessi a ing
a new pa adigm in educa ion and aining (Nai am e al.,
2025; Ayumu and Ohakawa, 2025).
T adi ional FM educa ion has o en ocused on ounda ional
knowledge and ope a ional p ocedu es, emphasizing
echnical compe encies such as building sys ems,
main enance p ac ices, and basic egula o y compliance
(Alonge e al., 2025; Oke eke e al., 2025). While hese
compe encies emain essen ial, hey may no ully equip
p o essionals o na iga e eme ging challenges. Sma

e al., 2025).

con empo a y acili y ope a ions. The model seeks o b idge
cu en knowledge gaps, in eg a e mul idisciplina y
compe encies, and cul i a e a wo k o ce capable o managing
echnologically ad anced, sus ainable, and globally
dis ibu ed acili ies (Oni ade e al., 2024; Umo en e al.,
2025). Th ough i s implemen a ion, o ganiza ions can os e
a highly skilled, e sa ile, and u u e- eady cad e o FM
p o essionals who a e equipped no only o mee ope a ional
and egula o y equi emen s bu also o d i e s a egic alue,
sus ainabili y, and inno a ion ac oss he acili y managemen
discipline (Faiz e al., 2024; Umo en e al., 2025).
The con e gence o echnological inno a ion, sus ainabili y
impe a i es, and globaliza ion has ede ined he skill se
equi ed o e ec i e acili y managemen . T adi ional
educa ional app oaches a e insu icien o add ess hese
demands (So oluwe e al., 2024; Nwokediegwu e al., 2024).
This in oduces a o wa d-looking educa ional model
designed o equip FM p o essionals wi h he echnical,
digi al, sus ainabili y, and leade ship compe encies necessa y
o p o essional excellence, ope a ional e iciency, and long-
e m adap abili y in a apidly e ol ing indus y.
2.0 METHODOLOGY
To de elop a u u e-o ien ed educa ional model aimed a
p epa ing nex -gene a ion acili y managemen p o essionals,
a sys ema ic PRISMA me hodology was employed. The
p ocess began wi h a comp ehensi e sea ch o ele an
li e a u e ac oss da abases including Scopus, Web o Science,
ERIC, and Google Schola , using keywo ds such as “ acili y
managemen educa ion,” “p o essional de elopmen ,” “nex -
gene a ion compe encies,” “cu iculum inno a ion,” and
“eme ging FM skills.” The ini ial sea ch yielded a b oad
collec ion o eco ds, which we e subsequen ly sc eened o
ele ance based on i les and abs ac s. Inclusion c i e ia
ocused on s udies add essing inno a i e o o wa d-looking
educa ional app oaches in acili y managemen , compe ency
amewo ks o p o essional de elopmen , and s a egies o
in eg a ing eme ging echnologies and sus ainabili y
p inciples, while s udies limi ed o con en ional aining
me hods o un ela ed sec o s we e excluded. Full- ex a icles
we e hen assessed o me hodological quali y, cla i y o
epo ed ou comes, and applicabili y o p epa ing acili y
managemen p o essionals o e ol ing indus y demands.
Da a ex ac ion cap u ed key a iables including educa ional
app oaches, compe ency domains, lea ning ou comes,
cu iculum design, deli e y me hods, and e idence o
p o essional skill acquisi ion. To ensu e igo and eliabili y,

consensus discussions. The selec ed s udies we e syn hesized
using na a i e and hema ic app oaches o iden i y ecu ing
pa e ns, inno a i e pedagogical s a egies, compe ency
equi emen s, and gaps in cu en educa ional models. This
syn hesis in o med he de elopmen o a concep ual
amewo k o a u u e-o ien ed educa ional model ha
in eg a es echnical skills, digi al li e acy, sus ainabili y
awa eness, and leade ship compe encies. By ollowing he
s uc u ed PRISMA me hodology encompassing he s ages o
iden i ica ion, sc eening, eligibili y, and inclusion, he s udy
ensu ed anspa ency, ep oducibili y, and comp ehensi e
co e age o he e idence base, p o iding a esea ch-g ounded
ounda ion o designing an educa ional model ha equips
nex -gene a ion acili y managemen p o essionals wi h he
compe encies equi ed o u u e ope a ional, echnological,
and s a egic challenges.
2.1 Concep ual and Theo e ical Founda ions
De eloping a u u e-o ien ed educa ional model o nex -
gene a ion acili y managemen (FM) p o essionals equi es
a s ong concep ual and heo e ical ounda ion. The model
mus in eg a e p inciples o adul lea ning, compe ency-based
educa ion, sys ems hinking, and inno a ion and o esigh
heo y o ensu e g adua es a e equipped wi h he skills,
knowledge, and adap abili y necessa y o complex,
echnology-d i en, and globally dispe sed acili ies
(Nwokediegwu e al., 2024; Faiz e al., 2024). These

as building sys ems knowledge, heal h and sa e y
compliance, and basic ope a ional managemen —and
ad anced compe encies, including sma building
echnologies, p edic i e main enance, sus ainabili y
planning, and c oss-cul u al leade ship. The educa ional
model s uc u es lea ning ou comes a ound measu able
compe encies, allowing lea ne s o p og ess a hei own pace
and demons a e mas e y be o e ad ancing o mo e complex
modules (Faiz e al., 2024; So oluwe e al., 2024). This
app oach ensu es consis ency in skill acquisi ion ac oss
di e se coho s and acili ies, aligning g adua es’ capabili ies
wi h indus y expec a ions and he e ol ing equi emen s o
global acili y ope a ions.
