I. ABSTRACT
In his p esen a ion, we will i s desc ibe he design
and implemen a ion o an NFV sys em capable o
deploying mode a ely complex ne wo k se ices o e a
wi eless ad-hoc ne wo k o esou ce-cons ained compu e
nodes. The sys em design a ge s ae ial ne wo ks buil by
Unmanned Ae ial Vehicles (UAVs), and i elies on
con aine i ualiza ion o suppo he execu ion o
ne wo k unc ions wi hin cons ained en i onmen s, as
well as on mobile ad-hoc ne wo king o suppo he
unde lying end- o-end ne wo k communica ions [1]. The
p esen a ion will also co e he implemen a ion expe ience
om de eloping his NFV sys em, which is based on
ele an and widely-adop ed open-sou ce echnologies in
he NFV a ena such as ETSI Open-Sou ce MANO (OSM)
and OpenS ack.
In addi ion, we will p esen he de ails conce ning he
in eg a ion o his sys em in o a dis ibu ed NFV es bed
spanning h ee di e en emo e si es in Spain, i.e.,
Uni e sidad Ca los III de Mad id (UC3M), Uni e sidad
Poli écnica de Ca aluña (UPC), and Uni e sidad del País
Vasco (UPV-EHU). The goal o his es bed is o explo e
syne gies among NFV, UAVs, and 5G e ical se ices,
ollowing a p ac ical app oach p ima ily go e ned by
expe imen a ion. To showcase he po en ial o his es bed
o suppo e ical se ices, we will p esen h ee di e en
use cases ha ha e been ealized as pa o ou p io
esea ch wo k: i) he au oma ed deploymen o an IP
elephony se ice on a delimi ed geog aphic a ea, using a
ne wo k o in e connec ed UAVs [2] (no ewo hily, his
wo k was awa ded by ETSI as he bes p oo -o -concep
demons a ion wi h OSM du ing he OSM Release Eigh
cycle [3]); ii) he ealiza ion o a sma a ming e ical
se ice [4]; and iii) a public-sa e y e ical use case, which
uses ae ial and ehicula NFV in as uc u es o moni o
a ic condi ions and handle eme gency si ua ions [5].

po en ially unlimi ed pool o ne wo k, compu ing, and
s o age esou ces beyond he ne wo k edge. This iew
