ac o s can induce oxida ion o i on (II) o i on (III), hyd olysis, pa icle agglome a ion, and educed
bioa ailabili y, ul ima ely leading o a loss o he apeu ic e icacy.
Packaging ma e ials play a pi o al ole in p o ec ing pha maceu ical dosage o ms om
en i onmen al in luences. Di e en ypes o packaging p o ide a ying le els o ba ie p o ec ion
agains mois u e, oxygen, and ligh . In he con ex o he pha maceu ical ma ke , in es iga ing he
impac o packaging on he s abili y o “A e ol” is highly ele an o ensu ing he quali y and sa e y
o he medicinal p oduc , op imize able p o ec ion and minimize deg ada ion.
Objec i e: To e alua e he in luence o a ious packaging ma e ials on he s abili y o “A e ol”
able s du ing long- e m s o age, examining he p ese a ion o he API con en , physicochemical
p ope ies, and o ganolep ic cha ac e is ics as a unc ion o he ype o p ima y packaging.
Ma e ials and Me hods: Fou ypes o p ima y packaging we e in es iga ed o hei impac
on he s abili y o “A e ol” able s:
1. Ja – ligh -p o ec i e glass.
2. Vial – polyme ic ma e ial (high-densi y polye hylene).
3. S ip – non-cellula lexible packaging sealed be ween wo laye s o pape .
4. Blis e – composi e ma e ial (aluminum oil and PVC) wi h he mo o med cells.
Tes s we e conduc ed in clima ic zone II ( empe a u e: 25°C ± 2°C, ela i e humidi y: 60% ±
5%) o e 24 mon hs. Analyses we e pe o med a 0, 6, 12, 18, and 24 mon hs in acco dance wi h he
p oduc ’s egula o y documen a ion, e alua ing he ollowing pa ame e s: ac i e subs ance con en ,
dissolu ion, mechanical s eng h and o ganolep ic p ope ies.
Resul s: Unde s anda d s o age condi ions, he s abili y o “A e ol” able s a ied depending
on he packaging. The ini ial ac i e subs ance con en (i on uma a e) was 100 ± 2%.
Glass Ja (ligh -p o ec i e) p o ided high p o ec ion agains ligh and mois u e due o i s
he me ic p ope ies. A e 24 mon hs, ac i e subs ance con en dec eased by 3–5%, wi h dissolu ion
emaining wi hin 95–100%. Mo phological changes we e minimal, wi h sligh da kening o he
coa ing and no agglome a ion.
Polyme ic Vial exhibi ed mode a e ba ie p ope ies, allowing some mois u e di usion. By 24
mon hs, ac i e subs ance loss eached 8–12%, wi h dissolu ion educed o 85–90%. Mino changes
in ha dness (10% inc ease) and sligh pa icle agglome a ion we e obse ed.
Pape S ip demons a ed low ba ie p ope ies agains mois u e and oxygen. By 12 mon hs,
i on uma a e con en dec eased by 15–20%, and by 24 mon hs, by 25–30%. Dissolu ion d opped o

Conclusions: The s udy demons a ed ha packaging ma e ials signi ican ly a ec he s abili y
o “A e ol” able s du ing long- e m s o age. Blis e packaging (aluminum oil and PVC) and ligh -
p o ec i e glass ja s p o ided he bes p o ec ion due o hei supe io ba ie p ope ies agains
mois u e, oxygen, and ligh . Polyme ic ials we e sui able o medium- e m s o age bu we e less
e ec i e. Pape s ips we e he leas e ec i e and a e no ecommended o long- e m s o age due o
apid deg ada ion. Blis e packaging o ligh -p o ec i e glass is ecommended o ensu e he
he apeu ic e icacy o “A e ol” able s.
