Rele ance: Physalis angula a (angula physalis) is an e ec annual he baceo us plan o he
Solanaceae amily. The lea es a e da k g een, almos o a e, o en wi h se a ed edges. The lowe s
a e pen agonal, pale yellow; he yellow-o ange ui s a e enclosed in a sphe ical calyx [1]. Physalis
angula a (P. angula a L.) was i s disco e ed and eco ded in he lo a o Libya [2]. The species may
be a na u al endemic o Aus alia o Ame ica, o i s ange may co e bo h Ame ica and Aus alia. A
p esen , i is widesp ead and na u alized in opical and sub opical egions h oughou he wo ld.
Pe ennial he baceous plan s wi h hick unb anched s ems co e ed wi h al e na e scales. The
lowe s a e collec ed in spike-like clus e s. Plan s o his genus pa asi ize he oo s o sh ubs and
semi-sh ubs.
Physalis angula a is adi ionally used o i s an ibac e ial, an i-in lamma o y, and analgesic

an ioxidan , and an icance po en ial [3]. Physalin con ained in his plan is being s udied o i s
an icance and an imic obial ac i i y.
F om he li e a u e, i is known ha s e oidal lac ones (physalins) ound in Physalis angula a
ha e shown an i umo ac i i y in i o agains se e al cance cell lines. Physalin compounds such as
physalin B, D, and F ha e demons a ed an ibac e ial ac i i y agains a ious bac e ia, including
S aphylococcus au eus and Esche ichia coli. S udies con i m he plan ’s abili y o educe
in lamma ion by inhibi ing a ious in lamma o y pa hways.

Physalis angula a.
Ma e ials and Me hods. The dynamics o subs ance ex ac ion om plan ma e ial we e
s udied as ollows: 0.5 kg o c ushed aw ma e ial was loaded in o se en ex ac o s (5 L capaci y
each) and illed wi h he selec ed sol en un il a “mi o ” o med. Ex ac ion was ca ied ou a oom
empe a u e.
The ex ac s we e d ained sequen ially a in e als o 1 hou . Thus, in he i s ex ac o he
ex ac ion las ed 1 hou , in he second – 2 hou s, in he hi d – 3 hou s, in he ou h – 4 hou s, in he
i h – 5 hou s, in he six h – 6 hou s, and in he se en h – 7 hou s.

de e mined. By analyzing he esul s, phase equilib ium was es ablished depending on he soaking
ime du ing he i s con ac .
Resul s. Based on he esea ch esul s, i was es ablished ha by he i h con ac he yield o
ex ac i e subs ances was insigni ican (0.4% o he aw ma e ial mass). A e h ee d ainings, he
ex ac ion deg ee eached 90.3%, which is qui e accep able o he ex ac ion s age.
