Me hodology
Following PRISMA guidelines (Page e al., 2021), we sea ched Web o Science, Scopus, and
Google Schola using keywo ds including "boa d e ec i eness," "go e nance ailu e,"
"co po a e go e nance," "boa d pe o mance," "ESG go e nance," and "s akeholde
go e nance." This p ocess iden i ied 847 po en ially ele an a icles. A e applying
inclusion c i e ia—pee - e iewed empi ical s udies published be ween 2014 and 2024 in
English—ou inal sample comp ised 127 s udies (89 quan i a i e, 38 quali a i e) spanning
42 coun ies.
Key Findings
The sys ema ic e iew e eals h ee undamen al me a-pa e ns ac oss con empo a y
go e nance esea ch. Fi s , adi ional go e nance me ics such as boa d independence,
mee ing equency, and commi ee s uc u e p o e o be necessa y bu insu icien o
e ec i eness. O he 127 s udies e iewed, 83 (65%) ound no signi ican co ela ion
be ween hese con en ional measu es and o ganiza ional pe o mance (Adams, 2017;
La cke & Tayan, 2020). This "o e sigh pa adox" sugges s ha mechanis ic go e nance

s udies (n=12,847 i ms) shows boa ds unde qua e ly ea nings p essu e unde in es in
R&D by 28-35%, educe aining budge s by 19-23%, and exhibi 40% highe execu i e
u no e (Aske e al., 2015; C eme s e al., 2020). This empi ically alida es SVEMF™'s
concep o "Cap u e dynamic hype ophy"— alue seized as e han i can be egene a ed.

examining ESG go e nance ound ha 71% o i ms wi h ESG commi ees show no

declined 15% (La cke e al., 2018; Malenko, 2019), con i ming SVEMF™'s "T ansmission

(Robison & Ma ineau, 2021). Despi e possessing all compliance da a, he boa d lacked
