Rele ance: A decoc ion o he abo e-g ound pa o Pe o skia sc ophula ii olia Bunge ( amily
Lamiacaeae) is used in olk medicine o scabies in humans and animals, as well as o healing
sunbu n and skin diseases. D ied lowe s o he plan a e b ewed and consumed as ea o elie e
gas oin es inal diseases and abdominal pain. In some coun ies o he Asian egion, P.
sc ophula ii оlia is used o emo e in es inal pa asi es om he body. The abo e-g ound pa o P.
sc ophula ii olia con ains essen ial oil, abie ane di e penoids, la onoid diosme in,
phenylp opanoids, an hocyanins, ni ogenous compounds, eugenol glycosides, benzyl alcohol,
salid oside and e penoids. The chemical composi ion o he oo s o P.sc ophula ii olia has no been
s udied.

Omonku on, Sama kand egion o he Republic o Uzbekis an.
Ma e ials and me hods. The c ushed ai -d ied plan ma e ial (ae ial pa and oo s) was
ex ac ed i e imes a oom empe a u e wi h me hanol. The combined ex ac was e apo a ed in a
acuum, dilu ed wi h wa e and subjec ed o liquid-liquid ex ac ion wi h gasoline, chlo o o m, e hyl
ace a e and n-bu anol.
Resul s. Fou indi idual subs ances (1-4) we e isola ed om di e en ac ions o he me hanol
ex ac o he abo e-g ound pa by column ch oma og aphy on silica gel and Sephadex LH-20, and
se en compounds (5-11) we e isola ed om he oo s. Based on he s udy o UV, 1H and 13C NMR
spec a and he X- ay di ac ion me hod, he isola ed subs ances we e iden i ied wi h ca nosol (1),
ci sima i in (2), s igmas e ol (3) and β-si os e ol (4), c yp o anshinone (5), anshinone IIA (6),
p zewalskin Y-1 (7), g andi olia B (8), osma inic (9), ca eic acids (10) and D-pini ol (11). Ca nosol
has an ioxidan , an i umo and an i-in lamma o y p ope ies. D-Pini ol has an idiabe ic and
an ioxidan ac i i y, i is ecommended o he ea men o condi ions associa ed wi h insulin
esis ance, such as diabe es melli us and i s ch onic complica ions.
To s udy he an ibac e ial and an i ungal p ope ies o he benzene, chlo o o m and e hyl ace a e
ac ions o he abo eg ound pa o P. sc ophula ii olia, a modi ied aga di usion me hod was used
using he ollowing mic oo ganism s ains as es cul u es: g am-posi i e bac e ia - Bacillus sub ilis
(RKMUz - 5), S aphylococcus au eus (ATCC 25923); g am-nega i e bac e ia - Pseudomonas
ae uginosa (ATCC 27879), Esche ichia coli (RKMUz - 221) and he ungal s ain Candida albicans
(RKMUz - 247). Imp egna ed disks wi h ampicillin/sulbac am, gen amicin and luconazole
(Himedia) we e used as posi i e, and ex ac ion sol en s as nega i e con ols.
The es esul s showed ha he gasoline ac ion has a p onounced an ibac e ial e ec on he
bac e ial s ains B. sub ilis (12.08±0.12 mm), S. au eus (11.04±0.10 mm) and P. ae uginosa
(11.04±0.10 mm). The chlo o o m and e hyl ace a e ac ions we e inac i e agains he s udied
bac e ial and ungal s ains.
