used in olk medicine as an analgesic and an i-in lamma o y agen . Mode n s udies con i m he

de elopmen o e ec i e and sa e pha maceu ical p oduc s, exhibi ing an ioxidan , analgesic, and
an ibac e ial ac i i ies.
Objec i e. To e iew cu en da a on he chemical composi ion and pha macological p ope ies
o Elaeagnus angus i olia as a basis o he de elopmen o new pha maceu ical p oduc s.
Ma e ials and Me hods. Li e a u e analysis was ca ied ou using PubMed, Scopus, and
eLib a y da abases o he pe iod 2015–2024. Publica ions on he phy ochemical composi ion,
mechanisms o ac ion, and applica ions o plan ex ac s we e conside ed.
Resul s. S udies ha e shown ha ex ac s om he ui s, lea es, and lowe s o Elaeagnus
angus i olia con ain la onoids such as que ce in and iso hamne in, as well as polyphenolic
compounds, annins, amino acids, o ganic acids, i amins (C, E), and ace elemen s. These
componen s p o ide p onounced an ioxidan , analgesic, an i-in lamma o y, and an ibac e ial
p ope ies. Fo example, ui ex ac s demons a ed he abili y o inhibi DPPH and ABTS adicals
as well as supe oxide anions, con i ming hei an ioxidan ac i i y.
Clinical s udies con i m he e icacy o Elaeagnus angus i olia-based p epa a ions in he
ea men o in lamma o y join diseases and pain synd omes. One andomized con olled ial
showed ha Elaeagnus angus i olia ex ac in combina ion wi h Boswellia hu i e a exhibi ed an i-
in lamma o y and analgesic e ec s compa able o ibup o en in pa ien s wi h knee os eoa h i is.
Addi ionally, Elaeagnus angus i olia ex ac s demons a ed hypoglycemic ac i i y. Animal
s udies showed ha polysaccha ides om he plan 's ui s educed blood glucose le els in mice wi h
ype 2 diabe es.
Conclusions. Elaeagnus angus i olia is a p omising objec o pha maceu ical de elopmen
due o i s high con en o BACs and mul i ace ed pha macological ac i i y. The c ea ion o new he bal
medicines equi es u he esea ch on aw ma e ial s anda diza ion, op imiza ion o ex ac ion
me hods, s udy o mechanisms o ac ion, and p eclinical and clinical ials. An impo an di ec ion is
he de elopmen o inno a i e dosage o ms (nano-s uc u ed ex ac s, phy ogels, die a y
supplemen s), which will enhance he bioa ailabili y and e ec i eness o ac i e compounds.
