Rele ance: Rose oil, oin men s, c eams, and sp ays based on i a e cu en ly widely used in
cosme ology and de ma ology. Ibn Sina no ed ha he Damask ose (nas in) is use ul o cooling

called ozanol has been de eloped; i s ac i e ing edien is ose oil, which has an ispasmodic,
chole e ic, and bac e icidal p ope ies.
Se e al me hods a e used o ex ac essen ial oils. The oldes ( adi ional me hods) and mos
commonly used me hods a e mace a ion and en leu age, as he essen ial oils ob ained om hese
me hods e ain he ue scen and chemical composi ion o he lowe s.
Mace a ion o pe als in a neu al oil p oduces a "concen a e" (used in cosme ics), while
en leu age is a his o ical me hod o p oducing ine ag ances. P ac ical applica ion: mace a ion
eleases a oma ic con en in o he base oil (use ul o cosme ics and a oma he apy).
The pu e yield o ose oil is much highe : 0.02–0.05% by weigh o pe als (0.2–0.5 g pe 1 kg
o pe als), depending on he a ie y and ex ac ion condi ions; o 1 kg pe 375–400 kg o pe als
(depending on he me hod). This explains he high cos o he oil.
Objec i e: To de elop a echnology o ex ac ing essen ial oil om ose pe als (Rosa
damascena) and ecommend i s use in cosme ology and de ma ology. Many ose a ie ies a e known
o be g own in he Cen al Asian egion, including Uzbekis an, and demand o hem is always high.
Me hods: Cold mace a ion was used o ex ac essen ial oils. Se e al oils we e selec ed as
ex ac an s: oli e, sun lowe , and co onseed. Based on i s echnical cha ac e is ics, oli e oil was
chosen as he mos sui able ex ac an . The aw ma e ial- o-sol en a io was s udied a a ious alues;
he op imal a io was 1:10. The op imal ex ac ion ime is 14-15 days.
Fo he expe imen , app oxima ely 10 g ams o esh mo ning ose pe als we e pou ed in o 100
ml o oli e oil un il a glassy laye o med. The mix u e was hen le in a da k place o 14 days wi h
he lid igh ly closed. The empe a u e was main ained a a ious le els: 200°C, 300°C, and 400°C.

h ough a clo h il e . Eigh o en laye s o gauze we e used o il a ion. A e 2 o 3 hou s, he oil
ex ac was il e ed again..
Resul s: O e he cou se o 7 days, he essen ial oil is pa ially (17-20%) abso bed in o he
oli e oil. The esul ing mix u e has a pleasan , sub le lo al a oma. A e 14 days o s o age, he
essen ial oil is comple ely abso bed, o ming wo laye s and beginning he e men a ion p ocess. The
oli e- lo al mix u e acqui es a honeyed a oma.
Conclusions: Op imal condi ions (ex ac ion ime, empe a u e, and a ios o oil ex ac
componen s, sol en , and aw ma e ials) o p oducing essen ial oil om local ose pe als ha e been
de e mined. The de eloped echnology p ese es he ac i e componen s o ose pe als and ensu es
he s abili y o he oil ex ac du ing s o age.
