1. The Wo ld Clima e Resea ch P og amme Ea h Sys em Modelling and Obse a ions In as uc u e
Panel (WIP) is a panel o he Scien ific S ee ing G oup (SSG) o he ESMO Co e P ojec . The body is
asked wi h he coo dina ion and implemen a ion o “in as uc u e” ha defines a CMIP p ojec
phase, and he in o ma ion ha hese in as uc u e componen s equi e in o de o build and
deli e hei se ices. The WIP is also asked wi h p o iding guidance and eedback on o he
non-CMIP ac i i ies, wi hin he in e es s o he ESMO Co e P ojec , and as esou ces allow. This
coo dina ion ole includes in e ac ion wi h in as uc u e deli e y pa ne s, ensu ing ha he
echnical equi emen s o in as uc u e con ibu o s o mee CMIP p ojec in as uc u e deli e y

3. Goal o he WIP: The WIP is a WCRP ESMO panel cha ged wi h coo dina ing and p omo ing a obus
and sus ainable global da a in as uc u e in suppo o he de elopmen , dissemina ion and
e alua ion o Global and Regional Clima e Model In e compa ison P ojec (MIP) da a h ough he
Coupled Model In e compa ison P ojec (CMIP) and o he WCRP and communi y modelling
ac i i ies as esou ces a e a ailable.

o a leas a mon h. A deadline will be se o applica ions, which will be collec ed by he CMIP IPO.
The CMIP IPO will coo dina e all open calls o all CMIP bodies, which can be eques ed h ough
s anda d epo ing mechanisms o by special need.
