echnology and g adually becoming digi al na i es. In his echnological e a, he

he educa ion ield. Technology has also p o en i s e ec i eness in language eaching
which includes as a sou ce o mo i a ion and p o ides oom o au hen ic lea ning. Ou

Technology is no longe o eign o he ea h’s ci izens. Technology has played i s
ole in mul iple ields o wo k, pa icula ly in educa ion. Du ing he las wo decades,
he implemen a ion o In o ma ion and Communica ion Technology (ICT) in language
educa ion has become a eal opic o in e es . The use o echnology has become
signi ican in he eaching and lea ning p ocess in and ou o class. Technology opens

p edominan ly in language lea ning.
Acco ding o Shyamlee and Phil, echnology has p o ided signi ican d i e s o
bo h social and linguis ic change. Wi h English as an in e na ional language and i s
de elopmen a ound he wo ld, English is used as a second language in a coun y such
as India and Malaysia. To some people, English ac s as hei i s language. English
has become he language o ins uc ion and cu iculum in many coun ies. As he
numbe o English lea ne s inc eases, new eaching me hods ha e been implemen ed
o es he e ec i eness o he eaching p ocess. Language is one o he mos subs an ial
elemen s in communica ion. [1, 150-156]
S uden s u ilize di e en pa s o English language skills such as lis ening,
speaking, eading, and w i ing o hei p o iciency and communica ion. The use o
ICT in he educa ion ield has been inc easing. Educa ional echnologies p omised o
change he way eache s each and s uden s lea n o e e he whi e can as o language
eaching and lea ning has expe ienced majo c ea i i y and changes o e he decade
wi h he eme ging o a new e a o educa ion and echnology. Technology has
ans o med he ield o educa ion, lowe and highe educa ion, which has a g ea
impac on he ield o English as a Second Language (ESL) eaching. As ime changed,
eachings changed oo.
The echnology implemen a ion is de ined as “ he p ocess o de e mining which
elec onic ools and which me hods om implemen ing hem a e he mos app op ia e
esponses o gi e class oom si ua ions and p oblems”. Compu e assis ed language
lea ning (CALL) has become no malized in he educa ional p ocess. The key o a
success ul use o echnology in eaching and lea ning session no only lies in ha dwa e

used commonly in eaching and lea ning o English language. Ano he commonly used

augmen s he lea ning expe ience by allowing he lea ne s and eache s o connec and
in e ac in a mo e inno a i e and in e es ing way. Social media such as Facebook,
Blog, Ins ag am, e-mail and Twi e p o ide a pla o m whe e use s can in e ac and
exchange ideas as well as o ind answe s h ough collabo a ion and discussion. [2,

mo e ad anced echnologies a e no only ans o ming he way he s uden s’ iew

Technology in gene al is becoming inc easingly impo an in ou pe sonal and

and echniques used o accomplish speci ic p ac ical asks. Educa ional echnologies,
in his sense, p omise o change o e e he way s uden s lea n and eache s each.
Howe e , echnology in language eaching is no new. I has been a ound in language
eaching o decades. Fo example, he blackboa d, as a o m o echnology, has been
used o cen u ies. Tape eco de s, language labs and ideos ha e been in use since he
1960s and 1970s, and a e s ill used in class ooms a ound he wo ld. [3, 97-105]
