His o ically, accoun ing was mainly iewed as a me hod o gene a ing inancial in o ma ion, wi h ea ly de ini ions
la gely igno ing he p ac ical use ulness o such ou pu s. Fo example, Walke (2016) desc ibed accoun ing as he
uni e sal language o business, enabling he communica ion o inancial in o ma ion o di e en s akeholde s [36].

Recen schola ly wo k, no ably Ca negie (2021), has econcep ualised accoun ing as a complex, mul i ace ed discipline
ha in eg a es socio- echnical and e hical dimensions [9]. This b oade unde s anding mo es beyond he adi ional
iew o accoun ing as a pu ely echnical unc ion, ins ead aming i as a p ac ice ha equi es he syn hesis o echnical
p o iciency, e hical disce nmen , and social consciousness. Such a econcep ualiza ion e lec s he g owing ecogni ion
ha accoun ing p ac ices no only in luence in e nal o ganisa ional p ocesses bu also ex end hei impac o wide
socie al con ex s. As obse ed in ecen li e a u e, accoun ing now plays a ole in shaping socie al alues, no ms, and
collec i e belie s, highligh ing i s unc ion as bo h a echnical and mo al en e p ise [37]. These de elopmen s

epo ing. No ably, coun ies including he Uni ed S a es, he Uni ed Kingdom, Japan, China, and Eu opean Union

solidi ying he s anda d's in e na ional ecogni ion. Consequen ly, XBRL embodies bo h a echnological ad ancemen
and a e lec ion o he accoun ing p o ession's ongoing e olu ion, p o essionalisa ion, and mode nisa ion.

AI (also e e ed o as cogni i e echnology) is a echnology ha enables compu e s and machines o mimic human
hough p ocesses and ac ions [15]. These echnologies a e designed o pe o m asks such as lea ning, easoning, and
decision-making, he eby enabling au oma ion and op imisa ion o a ious p ocesses. Al hough he echnical
ounda ions o AI p ima ily belong o he ealm o compu e science and enginee ing, i s pe asi e impac has i mly

decisions.

The ongoing digi al ans o ma ion is signi ican ly in luencing he accoun ing p o ession, making his subjec highly
ele an no only o cu en p ac i ione s bu also o s uden s and academics in highe educa ion. These g oups
possess he expe ise necessa y o con ibu e o he de elopmen and e inemen o ad anced accoun ing in o ma ion
sys ems. Many ou ine accoun ing asks, such as expense managemen , p ocessing o accoun s ecei able and payable,
AI-d i en in oice handling, and supplie onboa ding, a e inc easingly being au oma ed, unde sco ing he g owing ole
