Sus ainable P ocu emen Resea ch: A Sys ema ic Li e a u e Re iew] This s udy aims o conduc a sys ema ic e iew o
he de elopmen and implemen a ion o sus ainable p ocu emen (SP) wi h he main ocus on he supplie e alua ion
p ocess. This s udy analyzed 17 selec ed a icles om he scopus da abase using he PRISMA app oach o ensu e a
comp ehensi e and ele an li e a u e selec ion p ocess. The esul s o he s udy show ha in ecen yea s he e has
been a signi ican inc ease in academic in e es in SP, especially in he con ex o supplie e alua ion, wi h ou main
dimensions o supplie e alua ion, namely: economic, en i onmen al, social, and go e nance. The economic dimension
includes cos e iciency and in es men in g een supply chains, while he en i onmen al dimension includes ca bon
emission educ ion and was e managemen . Social and go e nance aspec s a e also impo an conside a ions.
Analy ical echniques such as Fuzzy Decision-Making and AHP a e widely used o suppo mo e objec i e supplie
e alua ions. This s udy ecommends he de elopmen o s anda dized e alua ion models and he use o digi al
echnologies o suppo sus ainable p ocu emen p ac ices in he u u e.

1. In oduc ion
P ocu emen is a p ocess o ac i i y o ob ain and p o ide a ious p oduc s and se ices needed [1]. The p ocu emen
p ocess includes se e al s eps, such as iden i ying needs, explo ing esou ces, ma ke analysis, de e mining supplie s,
d a ing ag eemen s, ecei ing goods o se ices deli e ed, and moni o ing and assessing he quali y o supplie
pe o mance [2], [3]. The ole o p ocu emen in suppo ing o ganiza ional pe o mance has g own apidly, om
me ely a ac ical and passi e unc ion o a p oac i e s a egic unc ion [4]. P ocu emen is impo an because i can ha e
a di ec impac on he pe o mance o an o ganiza ion, bo h public and p i a e. The implemen a ion o good
p ocu emen p ac ices can ha e a posi i e impac , such as cos e iciency, imp o ed quali y and deli e y accu acy, be e
ela ionships wi h supplie s, and encou agemen o inno a e. The abili y o ine- une p ocu emen p ocesses and

The ansi ion om con en ional p ocu emen o sus ainable p ocu emen (SP) is becoming inc easingly impo an as
awa eness o he en i onmen al and social impac s o business ac i i ies inc eases. Sus ainable p ocu emen is
conside ed a s a egic app oach ha has he p inciple ha o ganiza ions can achie e p o i s simul aneously, combining
aspec s o p o i abili y, En i onmen al Responsibili y, and social con ibu ion. The in eg a ion o hese h ee aspec s,
he o ganiza ion no only ob ain economic bene i s, bu also can ha e a posi i e impac on he en i onmen and socie y
[7]. SP policies and p ac ices gene ally ocus on educing packaging and was e, e alua ing supplie s based on
en i onmen al pe o mance, he abili y o de elop en i onmen ally iendly p oduc s, and hei con ibu ion o
educing ca bon emissions gene a ed du ing he anspo a ion o goods [8]. The success o ailu e o SP

Resea ch by [10] has analyzed SP- ela ed de elopmen s om 1997 o July 2023, highligh ing he impo ance o
sus ainable p ocu emen in add essing en i onmen al and social challenges. SP is no only a ool o educe
en i onmen al impac , bu also as a s a egic app oach in c ea ing long- e m alue o he economy and socie y. Then
[11] e ealed he p ojec managemen o ice (PMO) con ibu es signi ican ly o he sus ainable p ocu emen p ocess
in he p i a e sec o . The p i a e sec o is s a ing o show an inc ease in adop ing SP, mainly due o p essu e om
consume s, in es o s and inc easingly s ingen en i onmen al- ela ed egula ions. In he ield o cons uc ion
[12] explained ha he implemen a ion o SP was able o imp o e p ojec pe o mance and minimize losses in ou o
he six Design and Build (DB) p ojec s s udied. The in eg a ion o sus ainabili y p inciples in o he p ocu emen p ocess
can no only educe en i onmen al impac s, bu also imp o e cos e iciency, p ojec quali y, and s akeholde
ela ionships. SP has g ea po en ial o ans o m he cons uc ion sec o which is known as one o he majo
con ibu o s o global ca bon emissions and was e [13]. While [14] adop s sus ainable p ocu emen p ac ices in
supplie selec ion in B azilian manu ac u ing companies. The implemen a ion o social aspec s by supplie s is s ill
low and less s uc u ed, his shows he need o a mo e sys ema ic app oach so ha social aspec s can be a mo e se ious
conce n. Sus ainable p ocu emen p ac ices can also be adop ed in he ene gy sec o , [15] has de eloped a s ochas ic
op imiza ion model o imp o e coal p ocu emen e iciency, his model has p o en o be able o signi ican ly educe
ca bon emissions and ope a ing cos s. This s udy p o es ha sus ainable p ocu emen pays g ea a en ion o
en i onmen al aspec s wi hou sac i icing economic aspec s.
Al hough empi ical e idence has p o en he magni ude o he bene i s o SP, challenges in he implemen a ion o SP a e
s ill a majo obs acle. The main obs acles in he implemen a ion o SP include he lack o suppo i e policies, limi ed
o ganiza ional esou ces, lack o unde s anding o sus ainable p ocu emen , as well as he pe cep ion o high cos s
[16]. The need o s ong policies and e ec i e ins i u ional suppo o achie e success in sus ainable p ocu emen .
Ins i u ions ha e a ole as media o s be ween policy and implemen a ion o sus ainable p ocu emen [17].
One o he key aspec s in he implemen a ion o SP is he e alua ion and selec ion o supplie s. Supplie s ha e an
impo an ole in he supply chain, and hei pe o mance in en i onmen al, social, and go e nance aspec s can
in luence he success o SP. E alua ing supplie s holis ically is no easy, o ganiza ions a e o en aced wi h he
complexi y o measu ing and compa ing supplie pe o mance. This s udy aims o ill he li e a u e gap by conduc ing
a sys ema ic e iew o ecen de elopmen s in he ield o sus ainable p ocu emen . By analyzing ends, challenges,
and oppo uni ies in SP implemen a ion, his s udy is expec ed o p o ide a mo e comp ehensi e unde s anding o how
SP can be op imized o achie e sus ainabili y goals. The s udy also aims o iden i y e ec i e decision suppo ools ha
can be used o e alua e supplie s holis ically, wha c i e ia should be conside ed in e alua ing supplie s o achie e
sus ainable p ocu emen , and how he ole o supplie e alua ion in suppo ing he success ul implemen a ion o
sus ainable p ocu emen .
2. Me hods
The This s udy uses Scopus as he p incipal sou ce o ga he ing a icles pe inen o he esea ch issue. Scopus was
selec ed because o i s s a us as one o he la ges and mos epu able academic da abases, encompassing a di e se
a ay o ields. While Scopus p o ides ex ensi e co e age, po en ial limi a ions include he exclusion o non-English
sou ces and a icles ou side indexed jou nals, which could ma ginalize ele an indings. A sea ch was pe o med
u ilizing he ollowing que y: *TITLE-ABS-KEY ("sus ainable p ocu emen " OR "g een p ocu emen ") AND TITLE-ABS-
KEY (e alua ion OR assess)**. This combina ion was c a ed o ensu e ha he selec ed a icles ocus on sus ainable
and g een p ocu emen p ac ices while inco po a ing elemen s o e alua ion and assessmen . The keywo ds we e
chosen based on hei ele ance o he esea ch opic and hei capaci y o encompass a b oad ange o s udies ela ed
o p ocu emen sus ainabili y assessmen s. To main ain he quali y and ele ance o he collec ed li e a u e, he sea ch
was e ined by es ic ing he esul s o English-language a icles and excluding non-a icle documen ypes. This
app oach ensu es ha he selec ed s udies align wi h academic igo while minimizing linguis ic and o ma -based

selec ion [23], [24]. Se e al s udies also emphasize he impo ance o in es ing in g een p oduc s and u ilizing li e cycle
cos ing o enhance long- e m p o i abili y [18], [21].
