(YPTK) Padang. The me hod used in his esea ch is a quan i a i e me hod wi h a su ey app oach, in ol ing 100 s uden s as
esponden s. Da a was collec ed using a ques ionnai e ha measu es sel -discipline, in ol emen in o ganiza ions, hobby
managemen , and s uden lea ning ou comes, which a e measu ed based on he G ade Poin A e age (GPA). The esea ch esul s
show ha high sel -discipline is posi i ely ela ed o ac i e in ol emen in o ganiza ions and managing hobbies, which in u n
con ibu es o imp o ing s uden lea ning ou comes. S uden s wi h good sel -discipline end o ha e highe GPAs and can manage
hei ime well be ween academic and non-academic ac i i ies. These indings emphasize he impo ance o de eloping sel -
discipline as a key ac o in suppo ing s uden s' academic success, and sugges ha uni e si ies p o ide g ea e suppo o

I. INTRODUCTION
S uden s in highe educa ion ace a ious challenges in li ing hei academic and non-academic li es. Apa om mee ing
high academic demands, hey a e also aced wi h he need o de elop hemsel es h ough in ol emen in o ganiza ions and o he
non-academic ac i i ies, including hobbies. These ac i i ies can en ich s uden s' li e expe iences, bu equi e he abili y o manage
ime and p io i ies so as no o in e e e wi h achie ing academic goals. In his con ex , sel -discipline is an impo an ac o ha
in luences how s uden s can manage a ious aspec s o hei li es in a balanced way.
Discipline is he main key o achie ing success and o ming good beha io pa e ns, bo h in indi idual and social con ex s
(Sugai, G., & Ho ne , 2014); (Ta san, 2022). Disciplined indi iduals can ca y ou asks in an o de ly and o de ly manne ,
ollowing he applicable ules, so ha hei li es become mo e o de ly (T isnawa i, 2013). Acco ding o End iani, (2017), and
Şimşi , Z., & Dilmaç, (2022)Sel -discipline is a pe son's conscious and esponsible e o o egula e, con ol, and con ol hei
beha io and a i ude in li e so as no o ha m hemsel es o o he s. Despi e ha ing ex ao dina y cogni i e abili ies, wi hou a
disciplined a i ude, a pe son will ha e di icul y achie ing success, including in he lea ning con ex o s uden s, who need
special a en ion o de elop discipline in hei lea ning p ocess (Sob i, 2020);(Ha i a e al., 2022). Good sel -discipline allows
s uden s o be in ol ed in o ganiza ional ac i i ies and manage hei hobbies wi hou neglec ing academic obliga ions, so as o
achie e op imal lea ning ou comes.
In ol emen in s uden o ganiza ions p o ides many bene i s, such as de eloping leade ship skills, eamwo k, and
communica ion abili ies (Mus aqim & Wahjoedi, 2024);(Ca e , D. F., Ro, H. K., Alco , B., & La uca, 2016). Howe e , o be
ac i ely in ol ed in his o ganiza ion, s uden s need o ha e high sel -discipline. They mus be able o di ide hei ime be ween
lec u es, academic asks, and oles and esponsibili ies in he o ganiza ion. Wi hou s ong sel -discipline, s uden s isk eeling
o e whelmed and ha ing di icul y achie ing a balance be ween o ganiza ional ac i i ies and hei s udies. Apa om ha ,
managing hobbies also equi es sel -discipline. Hobbies a e o en a means o educing s ess and imp o ing s uden s'
psychological well-being (Xue, Q., Yang, J., Wang, H., 2022). Howe e , o be able o enjoy hobbies wi hou dis up ing academic
ac i i ies, s uden s need o ha e he abili y o se aside ime wisely. Wi h good sel -discipline, s uden s can enjoy hei hobby
ac i i ies while emaining ocused on la ge academic goals.

managing hei hobbies. Fo example, esea ch by Haque, (2018) and Gue zoian, (2022) concluded ha s uden s who ha e a high
le el o sel -discipline a e mo e able o manage hei ime e ec i ely be ween academic asks and non-academic ac i i ies,
including o ganiza ions and hobbies. This has a posi i e impac on hei academic achie emen s, as sel -discipline allows hem o
main ain a balance be ween s udies and o he sel -de elopmen ac i i ies. O he esea ch by Lei hwood, K., & Jan zi, (2000)
shows ha s uden s who a e in ol ed in s uden o ganiza ions end o ha e be e leade ship and ime managemen skills, which
also con ibu e o imp o ing hei lea ning ou comes. In addi ion, esea ch by Geo ge, G., & Thomas, (2021) e ealed ha
e ec i e hobby managemen , ca ied ou wi h discipline, can educe s ess and imp o e s uden s' psychological well-being, so
hey can ocus mo e on hei s udies. Well-managed hobbies also help s uden s o main ain highe lea ning mo i a ion (Akhi e
al., 2025). These indings indica e ha sel -discipline is no only impo an o ime managemen bu also o pe sonal well-being
and he de elopmen o skills ha suppo academic success. The e o e, his esea ch aims o u he examine how sel -discipline
can mo i a e s uden s o ge in ol ed in o ganiza ions and manage hei hobbies, as well as i s impac on hei lea ning ou comes.
This esea ch is a new app oach in unde s anding he ela ionship be ween sel -discipline, in ol emen in o ganiza ions,
hobby managemen , and s uden lea ning ou comes. In con as o p e ious esea ch, which ocused mo e on sel -discipline in he
con ex o ime managemen and academic achie emen , his esea ch combines b oade dimensions by highligh ing how sel -
discipline plays a ole in imp o ing he quali y o s uden in ol emen in o ganiza ions and managing hei hobbies. This esea ch
also explo es how sel -discipline can mo i a e s uden s o be ac i e in o ganiza ions, manage hobbies, and s ay ocused on hei
academic s udies, as well as explo ing he posi i e impac o managing hobbies on psychological well-being, which can inc ease
academic concen a ion and mo i a ion. Thus, his esea ch p o ides deepe insigh in o how sel -discipline can c ea e a balance
be ween academic and non-academic ac i i ies, which ul ima ely con ibu es o s uden s' holis ic academic and pe sonal success.

II. METHOD
This esea ch employs a quan i a i e app oach. Sugiyono, (2019) s a es ha a quan i a i e app oach is a esea ch me hod
ha uses conc e e da a in he o m o numbe s. A quan i a i e app oach was chosen because i allows s uc u ed da a collec ion
and can be analyzed s a is ically o es he ela ionship be ween se e al a iables s udied, namely sel -discipline, in ol emen in
o ganiza ions, hobby managemen , and s uden lea ning ou comes. Wi h his app oach, esea che s can ob ain a clea pic u e o
how big a ole sel -discipline plays in mo i a ing s uden s o ge in ol ed in o ganiza ions and manage hobbies ha ha e an
impac on hei lea ning ou comes.
Popula ion and Sample
The popula ion in his s udy was s uden s a he Facul y o Compu e Science (FILKOM) Pu a Indonesia Uni e si y
(YPTK) Padang. The a ge popula ion is 100 s uden s om a ious s udy p og ams a he acul y. The sampling echnique used
was simple andom sampling, which p o ided an equal oppo uni y o each s uden o be selec ed as a esponden in his esea ch.
By using a sample o 100 people, i is hoped ha he esea ch esul s can ep esen he gene al s uden popula ion o he Facul y o
Compu e Science.

The da a collec ion p ocess will be ca ied ou by dis ibu ing ques ionnai es o s uden s a he Facul y o Compu e
Science, Pu a Indonesia Uni e si y, who ha e been selec ed as esponden s. This ques ionnai e will be gi en di ec ly o ia an
online pla o m ha has been p epa ed, wi h an explana ion o he esea ch objec i es and clea ins uc ions o illing ou he
ques ionnai e. Responden s will be gi en 1 week o ill ou he ques ionnai e, and da a collec ion will be ca ied ou anonymously
o main ain esponden con iden iali y.

A e he da a is collec ed, da a analysis will be ca ied ou using desc ip i e s a is ics o desc ibe he cha ac e is ics o he
esponden s and each a iable s udied, such as a e age, s anda d de ia ion, and pe cen age. To es he ela ionship be ween
exis ing a iables, Pea son co ela ion analysis o mul iple linea eg ession will be used i you wan o es he in luence o sel -
discipline, in ol emen in o ganiza ions, hobby managemen , and lea ning ou comes simul aneously.

III. RESULT AND DISCUSSION

This esea ch was conduc ed o analyze he ac o s ha in luence s uden s' G ade Poin A e age (GPA), wi h he main
ocus on h ee impo an aspec s: sel -discipline, in ol emen in o ganiza ions, and hobby managemen . These h ee ac o s we e
chosen because hey a e belie ed o ha e a signi ican ole in shaping s uden academic ou comes. Based on he indings ob ained,
his esea ch aims o p o ide deepe insigh in o he ela ionship be ween hese ac o s and s uden GPA, as well as p o ide
ecommenda ions ha can be used by uni e si ies o suppo o e all s uden de elopmen . The ollowing is a u he desc ip ion o

hobbies. Thei in ol emen in o ganiza ions is e y low, and he managemen o hei hobbies is i egula . This con ibu es o he
low quali y o hei lea ning ou comes, e lec ed in he low GPA, namely 1.5.

balanced. Thei a e age GPA is 2.7, be e han he low GPA g oup.

hold impo an posi ions. The managemen o hei hobbies is o de ly and balanced, which con ibu es o hei psychological well-
being and suppo s be e lea ning ou comes. Thei a e age GPA eached 3.6, which was he highes among he h ee g oups.

DISCUSSION
The esea ch esul s show ha sel -discipline, in ol emen in o ganiza ions, and managing hobbies ha e a signi ican
impac on s uden s' GPA. S uden s who ha e high sel -discipline, a e ac i ely in ol ed in o ganiza ions, and manage hei hobbies
well, end o ha e a highe GPA, which is e lec ed in he g oup o s uden s wi h a GPA o 3.01-4.00 (55% o esponden s). On
he o he hand, s uden s wi h a low GPA (1.01-2.00) end o ha e lowe sel -discipline and ha e di icul y managing ime be ween
academics, o ganiza ions and hobbies.
The esul s o his s udy con i m indings om p e ious esea ch showing a posi i e ela ionship be ween sel -discipline
and lea ning ou comes. Fo example, esea ch conduc ed by Duckwo h, (2005) dan Geng & Wei, (2023) shows ha s uden s who
ha e a high le el o sel -discipline end o ha e be e academic achie emen . In his s udy, s uden s wi h high sel -discipline
(a e age sco e 4.2 on a GPA o 3.01-4.00) showed mo e op imal lea ning ou comes. This is in acco dance wi h p e ious esea ch
indings which s a e ha sel -discipline is e y impo an in managing academic asks and o he ac i i ies, he eby in luencing
o e all academic achie emen . Apa om sel -discipline, his esea ch also ound ha in ol emen in s uden o ganiza ions
in luences lea ning ou comes. S uden s who a e ac i ely in ol ed in o ganiza ions, especially hose in leade ship posi ions, ha e
be e ime managemen , communica ion and collabo a ion skills. This inding is in line wi h esea ch conduc ed by Fa man e al.,
(2024) and Tsu ayya, (2024), which s a es ha s uden in ol emen in ex acu icula ac i i ies can imp o e academic,
in e pe sonal and sel -de elopmen abili ies. S uden s who ha e oles in o ganiza ions a e usually mo e o ganized and can balance
academic obliga ions wi h non-academic ac i i ies, which ul ima ely imp o es hei academic pe o mance.
In his esea ch, good hobby managemen also showed a posi i e in luence on lea ning ou comes. College s uden s who
ha e ime o manage hobbies, such as spo s, a , o o he ac i i ies, epo lowe s ess le els and be e psychological well-being.
This is ela ed o he esul s o esea ch conduc ed by Mis a, R., & McKean, (2000), who ound ha ec ea ional ac i i ies and
ime managemen o hobbies can help educe s ess, which has a posi i e e ec on p oduc i i y and academic esul s. S uden s
wi h high GPAs in his s udy, who also alloca ed ime o hei hobbies, showed be e le els o mo i a ion and concen a ion in
s udying.
This esea ch is in line wi h se e al p e ious s udies ha examined he ela ionship be ween sel -discipline, in ol emen in
o ganiza ions, hobby managemen , and lea ning ou comes. Fo example, esea ch by Ma lina, (2023), shows ha s uden s' abili y
o manage hemsel es, including sel -discipline, con ibu es o hei academic achie emen . This esea ch adds insigh by
highligh ing how in ol emen in o ganiza ions and managing hobbies also ac as suppo ing ac o s o academic success. Some
p e ious esea ch ocused mo e on sel -discipline in an academic con ex only, bu his esea ch p o ides a mo e holis ic
unde s anding by including dimensions o non-academic ac i i ies ha also in luence academic achie emen . Compa ed wi h
esea ch by Schmid , (2018), which emphasizes he impo ance o ime managemen o achie e good academic esul s. his
esea ch adds he a iables o in ol emen in o ganiza ions and hobbies as ac o s ha in luence s uden s' well-being, which in
u n suppo s hei academic esul s. This esea ch also s eng hens he a gumen pu o wa d by Pu i & Ku niawan, (2024) which
s a es ha ac i e in ol emen in a ious ac i i ies ou side he class oom con ibu es o he de elopmen o skills ha g ea ly
suppo academic achie emen .
IV. CONCLUSION
I can be deemed ha sel -discipline, in ol emen in o ganiza ions, and hobby managemen ha e a signi ican in luence on
s uden lea ning ou comes. S uden s wi h high sel -discipline, who a e able o manage hei ime well be ween academic ac i i ies,
o ganiza ions, and hobbies, end o ha e a highe GPA. These indings con i m ha sel -discipline no only suppo s academic
achie emen bu also acili a es s uden s' engagemen in non-academic ac i i ies ha en ich hei expe iences and psychological
well-being. The e o e, uni e si ies need o p o ide suppo in de eloping s uden s' sel -discipline and encou aging hei
in ol emen in o ganiza ions and managing hobbies, o achie e a balance ha suppo s holis ic academic success.
