Capabili ies on P ojec Pe o mance. C oss-sec ional su ey and desc ip i e esea ch design we e
adop ed in his s udy . The o al numbe o ques ionnai es dis ibu ed was 122 (100%) bu only
120 (98.36%) was e ie ed. Resul s o he eg ession analysis shows ha he e is a e y s ong
ela ionship be ween con ac o s’ managemen capabili ies and p ojec pe o mance in Ogun S a e
(R-squa e = 0.811396). The s udy ecommends ha Indigenous con ac o s should ocus on
s a egies ha will imp o e hei managemen capabili ies (in a eas o unding, pe sonnel,
knowledge, and ma e ial esou ces, ela ionships wi h subcon ac o s and employees, and so on)
by using he o eign i ms’ p o iles as case s udies. This will enhance hei chances in he
compe i i e cons uc ion en i onmen in he s udy a ea;

managemen esea ch.The Nige ian cons uc ion indus y has a lo o p oblems wi h con ac o s’
managemen capabili ies. hese include inancial challenges, poo leade ship, poo planning, poo
scheduling o ac i i ies, lack o eamwo k, lack o p ojec managemen expe ience, incompe ence,
poo wo kmanship, use o sub-s anda d building ma e ials and poo communica ion (Abiodun,
Segbenu & Oluseye, 2017). These p oblem ha e some imes esul ed in li iga ions o a bi a ions

assessmen (Xuan, Thu & Anh, 2020b). P e ious pe o mance and quali y he eo , expe ience o

iden i ied as he majo ya ds icks o assessing con ac o s’ managemen abili y. I was also
disco e ed ha con ac o s’ managemen capaci y signi ican ly impac ed cos pe o mance and
ime, wi h a p- alue o 0.039 and 0.042, espec i ely; he eby suppo ing ea lie indings ha

Nige ia con ex (Aje, Odusami & Ogunsemi, 2009). The indings u he e eals ha he cos and

was Ogun S a e ,a s a e in sou h wes e n Nige ia c ea ed in 1976 wi h bo de s like Lagos S a e o
he sou h, Oyo and Osun s a es o he no h, Ondo o he eas and he Republic o Benin o he
wes . Abeouku a is he capi al and la ges ci y in he s a e.The popula ion o his s udy included
building cons uc ion p o essionals (Builde s, Quan i y Su eyo s, A chi ec s and Enginee s). Fi e
(5) cons uc ion i ms we e selec ed using a s a egic sampling echnique. The o al numbe o
egis e ed p o essionals ound on he app o ed cons uc ion si es was 122 and cons i u ed he
popula ion o s udy. This popula ion o s udy was also adop ed as he sample size because o i s
