Discussion
To app ecia e he ele ance o ou esul s, we can dis inguish wo meanings o ‘P o es an ’:
one na ow and one b oad. The la e e e s o he i le o Webe ’s book, whe e he iden i-

Re o ma ion and so on). This b oad unde s anding o P o es an is es i ied by Webe ’s mo e
acu e c i ics like Michael No ak who w o e ‘The Ca holic E hic and he Spi i o Capi alism’
(Fan ani, 1984,No ak, 1993). Adop ing his b oade de ini ion, ou expe imen shows ha
he US ‘P o es an ’ wo ld composed o P o es an s exposed o he p iming o blessing is less
inclined o edis ibu e han he Ca holic coun e pa . Also, when compa ed wi h Ca holics,
we ind ha P o es an s, Cal inis s and Me hodis s expec less money om he ‘blessed’. Al-

Unde he ligh o he b oade no ion o P o es an ism, he na ow e sion acqui es e en

To sum up, he na ow no ion o P o es an s s a is ically con i ms he Webe ian hypo he-
