esilience is de ined as he psychological capaci y o adap and h i e amid ad e si y ( eye s e  al.,
2022), is essen ial o p omo ing sus ainable consump ion, a key aspec o sus ainabili y. Sus ainable con-
sump ion in ol es making socially and ecologically esponsible choices in pu chasing, using, and dispos-
ing o goods and se ices (Quoquab & Mohammad, 2020). i ep esen s a p ac ical applica ion o
sus ainabili y, ocusing on minimizing en i onmen al impac , educing esou ce use, and p omo ing social
equi y a he indi idual and household le els (abaido & chabani, 2024).

o sus ainable consump ion emains unexplo ed (Hassan e  al., 2021). he en i onmen and

ical esilience has been s udied ac oss a ious domains (Bonanno e  al., 2011; Mas en, 2014), i s speci ic
applica ion in he consume beha iou , ma ke ing and sus ainable consump ion domain emains unex-
plo ed (Hadjielias e  al., 2022; eye s e  al., 2022). he said highligh ed gap demands he de elopmen
o a deepe unde s anding o how esilience in luences consume decisions in he ace o en i onmen al
challenges. h ough he iden i ica ion and analysis o he an eceden s and mechanisms o esilience, i
could be be e comp ehended how consume s can adop and main ain sus ainable consump ion,
despi e he ad e sa ies hey a e acing (clay on & ka azsia, 2020; lu ha e al., 2000).
in addi ion, consume psychological esilience plays a pi o al ole in os e ing sus ainable beha iou s
because esilience is no me ely abou su i ing ad e si y bu h i ing (Folke, 2016; walke e  al., 2004);
such ha i ansla es in o he p omo ion o long- e m ecological balance and sus ainabili y. esilien
consume s a e mo e likely o engage in sus ainable consump ion p ac ices, such as educing was e, con-
se ing esou ces, and suppo ing eco- iendly p oduc s e en when con on ed wi h s esso s like
eco-anxie y and eco-g ie (com esse e  al., 2021; cunsolo & ellis, 2018). he e o e, b idging he gap
be ween psychological esilience and sus ainabili y li e a u e will enable us o unde s and how esilience
could be cul i a ed and p omo ed among indi iduals ( eye s e al., 2022; udel, 2019). his unde s and-
ing is c ucial o he de elopmen o u u e in e en ion s a egies ha will encou age sus ainable con-
sump ion, ul ima ely con ibu ing o he achie emen o sus ainabili y goals.

o signi ican ly s imula e consume beha iou (co ey e  al., 2021; cunsolo & ellis, 2018; Ushe e  al.,
2019). hese psychological s esso s can ei he hinde o enhance consume ’s commi men owa ds sus-
ainable consump ion p ac ices depending upon hei abili y o posi i ely adap and manage s esso s
i.e. esilience (Bonanno e al., 2011; kalisch e al., 2015). gi en wha has been said, consume psycholog-
ical esilience will no only enhance an indi idual’s well-being bu will also play a c i ical ole in d i ing
b oade socie al shi s owa ds sus ainable consump ion (Be mes, 2021; udel, 2019). he ocus on he
consume s is impo an because i is hei daily consump ion- ela ed decisions ha di ec ly in luence
ma ke ends and en i onmen al ou comes; his makes consume s he key ac o s in he ansi ion
owa ds a sus ainable u u e (Damico e al., 2023; Za kada, 2024; Zhang e  al., 2023).
