Vilius PALENSKIS, Vytautas VALIUKĖNAS and Valerijonas ZALKAUSKAS Vilnius University ABOUT THE USE OF THE TERMS CONJUGATION, CONNEXION AND CONNECTION In the “Physics Terms Dictionary” [1] the term interface is in two different nests —conjugation (German: Konjugation, Russian: conpsxeHnHne) and correlation, connection (German: Korrelation, Wechselbeziehung, Russian: koppesnsius). In the Laser Physics Dictionary [2], interface is used in the second meaning. In the “Dictionary of Mathematical Terms” [3] interface corresponds to the English word relation and Russian — COOTHOIIECHHE, and in the “Explanatory Dictionary of Computing” [4] to the English words connection and (con)catenation and Russian — coeuHeHue, cuervieHue. Recently, in computer science works [5, 6] the word interface has been used as an equivalent of the English term interface, meaning devices or programs for connecting computer parts of different parameters. Obviously, we see that the word interface use varies. In the “Dictionary of Contemporary Lithuanian Language” [7] the interface is “mental association of objects: Ideas, events s. Science s. with production”. The word to bind has two meanings—“1. tie, hang (rope, thread, etc.): <...>. 2. prk. establish interrelationships, connect: To connect one thing with another. || sngr. : Theory connects with practice“. The word connect means "connect: logically s. thought. || sngr. : Related terms.’ Thus, the word interface is synonymous with connection, connection and connection. In the examples given, the interface of thoughts prevails. The term interface is therefore used to describe phenomena or logical relationships. It is often used in this sense. It is only important to find out which of these phenomena is most appropriate to be called interface. The dictionary [7] does not provide examples of interfaces with the meaning of device. Therefore, the translation of the word interface interface is incorrect. The property of connecting objects could be called o ne association, associativeness, as provided in the dictionary [3]. We suggest to use feminine gender words for software entities.
