254 Aušra Rimkutė-Ganusauskienė | International Symposium | Terminology and knowledge The International Symposium Terminology and knowledge On 6-8 June 2014, the IV International Symposium on Terminology and Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas Knowledge was held at the V. V. Vinogradov Institute of Russian Language of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Terminologists from China, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Finland and Lithuania took part in the conference. The international symposium was opened and its participants were greeted by the organizers: Head of the Terminology Center of the V. V. Vinogradov Institute of Russian Language, habil. dr. S. Shelov, researcher of the center Dr. A. Cumariovas and researcher of the Center for Russian Language, Literature and Culture of Heilongjiang University (China) Dr. J. Cisuna with colleague Č. Šupa. The first day of the symposium was dedicated to plenary presentations. In total, 10 have been read. L. Aleksiejeva and S. Mishlanova (Perm, Russia) focused on the linguistic substrate of the term in their presentation. I. Kazimirova (Kiev, Ukraine) presented the situation of terminology in Ukraine. She mentioned that Ukrainian terminology was influenced by Russian, Polish and German experiences. J. Cisunas reviewed the terminology dictionaries published since 1960 and the problems of their preparation. L. Beliajeva (St. Petersburg, Russia) discussed the procedures of automatic term selection from texts. G. Ivanova (Kirov, Russia) spoke about constructive synonyms and constructive variants in linguistics, tried to define their boundaries based on examples. The presentation of L. Krysino (Moscow, Russia) was aimed at discussing own and foreign terms in terminology systems. L. Manerko (Moscow) and A. Sharapov (Ryazan, Russia) analyzed the principles of cognitive-communicative terminology. Averbuch’s presentation was dedicated to the famous pioneer of terminology and Esperanto E. Drezen. V. Tabanakova from Tyumen (Russia) spoke about linguistic and philosophical paradigms in terminology, their interrelationships and integration. S. Vinogradov (Nizhny Novgorod, Russia) raised the question of the accuracy of terms, after all, in the practical work of terminology standardization this is a very subjective and rather difficult to achieve thing. Thus, the plenary reports were devoted 255Terminology | 2014 | 21 Thesis on terminology, terminology sources, polysemy, synonymy, variants, terminography, etc. The second day of the conference was divided into four sections. Four presentations (by O. Burdina and S. Mishlanova, as well as M. Lazariova from Perm, V. Ikonikova and E. Kakzanova from Moscow) were devoted to the problems of cognitive terminology. The same number of presentations were read in the second section, dedicated to terminology and general vocabulary: S. Shelov, like L. Rychkova (Grodno, Belarus), discussed the special vocabulary in dictionaries, L. Shestakova (Moscow) shared the principles of analysis of terms collected in the texts of poets, E. Sorokina (Moscow) spoke about the emergence of polysemy and homonymy. The terminology of individual fields of science is analyzed in the third section. The author of this review discussed the development of Lithuanian religious terminology in catechisms published between 1800 and 1882. The economic lexicon was studied by N. Karpuchina (Moscow). E. Lazutkina discussed models of semantic structure of sentences. N. Kozlovskaja (St. Petersburg) discussed the peculiarities of terms in Russian religious philosophy. In the final section "Terminological lexicography. Applied Terminology” D. Dzianping (Beijing, China) spoke about standardization of terms in traditional Chinese medicine. The presentation of I. Kudašev (Kouvola, Finland) discussed the presentation of special vocabulary in a tourist phrasebook. E. Marinova (Nizhny Novgorod) raised theoretical questions about borrowing processes and borrowings in dictionaries. J. Kokorina (Moscow) talked about the presentation of archaeological knowledge in thesaurus-type terminology dictionary, and A. Cumariovas drew everyone’s attention to how special vocabulary is marked in dictionaries, and gave advice on how this vocabulary should be presented. In total, 17 scientific papers were read on the second day of the conference. to discussing various terminology problems: the concept of the term, its accuracy, its interpretation, its use in the literature, its use in the publication of literature, etc. This year, the third day of the conference was dedicated to an excursion to Valueva, where the manor of the famous 18th century collector, Count Alexei Musinovich Pushkin, was visited. It is now a sanatorium. The International Terminology Symposium was useful and interesting. It was attended by representatives of various Russian terminology schools, discussed the most topical terminology issues and emerging problems, shared practical work experience, established close contacts.
