174 | REVIEWS (in 1958 the author has lived 3 weeks in his brother's Seimas, so his sister's and brother's language is much older and more systematic). Usai there are 6-znd-~ ùznai, not wznai (p. 275), aiistrinis (dustrenis) not dustrinis. Of course, Palanga Snekta is Siaurés vakary Zemaiciy (third confusion of Lithuanian geography, see p. 276). And Deguei is the head of the musician's region, not Klaipėda. Doutu, invali.do.m”, va-ikd. are not those snektos: d6-to, invaledoma, vacks:, dgs. loc. Sé5'd-s m'été’s transcribed by the transcriber or by kien. Very good design book, idéta a lot of work, hope, but took démesio detaléms, transposing greatly delayed, many and untrue. The work of a defective sociologist of Kalbinian betarmé vilnieté doc. dr. Laima Grumadiene- ’s many work and little practice in dialect research, apparently, could not help the compilers at all. We should be careful with the book when using it for scientific purposes. We already have the second volume of Zanavyky Snektos Zodyno, where the words starting with the letters L—R are compiled. This universal dialectic dictionary presents all the vocabulary not recorded in the common language base and not heard during the expeditions and expressed in the LCZ; Simplified phonetic transcription is used (unfortunately, there is no unstretched vowel 9, consonant 7, 7', x). It is very good that the use of the phrases and words from the literary circle has been abandoned (because there was even a provision for the use of new words written by writers from that region and words taken from elsewhere — this is not the object of dialectal dictionaries- ). Zodynas provides a lot of reliable and quite new dialectal material, lively and very pictorial examples of folk language, which, no doubt, will be used and interpreted in their works by many Lithuanian language and especially its recent researchers. Zodynas is important even in the present historical time, when all inherited non-verbal linguistic systems are strongly influenced by bk and its means of influence, especially by the radio, television, administrative and political factor. This is particularly visible in the south coast, where innovation is caught with self-indulgence, slang with all kinds of borrowed, equivalents sounds like this in the local language of John Jablonski's land! A little presented, maybe just needed to educate the users of the dictionary about such a word and form novelty. This is the whole fund of the bureaucratic,,inaSas“ and my language: masiniai SK,,masiskai* (p. 130); overlook (we must foresee) (p-135); frazeol. control node,,brain* (p. 139); [woman] dressed up (p. 157); missionary,,fool* (i8 Jewish life) (p. 201); motininé [kiaulé], “vedeklé” (p. 216); Put some mud on it. REVIEWS jl? communicate* (p. 230); continuous (p. 288) Zp = continuous; growth. (=overgrowth:) grown for sale (=... grown for sale) (p. 469); [baige] plugs (p. 478); company (1) sargonas i8 soviety army (p. 574); ribs sm. (2) = borders (p. 575). Thank God, there is not much, only it is a pity that there is no abbreviation about its novelty, non-heredity (40-50 years), and the silence can mislead many young researchers in Lithuania and abroad (so it has been and has been due to some incorrect transposing and non-historical presentation). We know that this particularly affects the study of the geography of words, which is often the basis of etymology. Tarmé facts are carefully checked, what great reproach can not be said. As if you can not believe such data: vns. gal. rozanc'u = rozanc'u: (p. 9) NM; manu vaiks pala-idoc tu6é (=thos?) kapuds (p. 10) LK¢; vienc []r'tbas (=vienc Sriiibas) (p. 17); liettts (3) (p. 65) —that is, a change of town; paim[k] kudla: (=paim[k] kiidla.) Pronunciation issues are much better organized compared to the first volume, which was poorly spelled. The firm hand of the editor, Dr. Vilija Sakalauskienė, a representative of the Griskabiidzis dialect, did not leave Strikmus and Zenklas: one of the best LKZ editors of the last volume did not allow herself and her co-workers to lose sight of the importance of dialectology (perhaps not very clear is the statement:,,In the second words, the prepositions are marked as in the common language“ —p. The slightest deviations from Snekty are visible, even in the case of F. de Saussure’s désny non-retention and other things: ge-lés... langines (p. 23) = lay'g'inés; i-... leke-tin'- us (= lek'e-t'in'- us) miskas (p. 45); /d.uZuose (3) (p. 31) hardly possible; sré-p's'u (p. 35) = sré:p's'u; gi-vae-na (p. 39) = gi-v'@-na; vns. viet. beld.isve (p. 51) = beld.is'v'- e-; casting (3°) (p. 60) = (3*); liésas, -a (4) (p. 62) = lean, -a (3), cf. liespienis (p. 63); loviskiai (p. 99) = léviskiai (fixed nest); mandieéra (1) (p. 120) = mandiera (1); iiméci6ti has a song kirtj (p.144) = iimécioti; méistré is 1 kiré., not 3 (p. 151); uzgeé-su (p. 156) = uzgeé-su; Zi-di (p. 157) = Zi-d'i; maisininkas, -é (2) (p. 163) = (1); ri-pesc'u (p. 166) = ra-pesc'- u, plg. ruipestis (p. 589); ré-ksmas (p. 183) = ré-ksmas, cf. réksmas (p. 540); Z't-ri (p. 193) = News; need.ugdavu (p. 193) = need.ugdavu; gd.n (p. 202) = gan; mundiéra (p. 220) = mundiera (1); disrespect (2), but 2 kiré. not suitable acc. nepa.garba: (3°?) Errors In this work errors have certainly decreased, we are approaching an exemplary scientific text: such pronunciation, and other errors, so long as they could be easily pointed out (while preparing for printing) and corrected. Does everything belong to the dialect, after all, there is no defined,,- tarmés Zodis*, although the whole volume of the zodyak is as if connected by the definition,,paveldétas zodis*. Non-dialectal words and forms bit: literdtas (p. 88), stlosiu (=sulosit) (p. 97); neismaisi- -tu. GRS = neismaisi- -tu. (it seems, there is no such metatonia); on bl@-cvas (p. 452); daugumo-- (=daugiausia) rifiko-[vezti] tarnd.uto-jus visus JNK (p. 559) and others This is also not much, and the links are very useful and necessary. Now we'll wait for the last of Sios Snekty's group, the common language base, all the assets. In the third volume it is necessary to indicate some unpleasant errors, imperfections. The proper formation and discovery of dialectal lexical gardens is an extremely important matter — dialects and old finds are the great wealth of a nation’s language, which is of great interest to many researchers of Indo-European studies. There are also unresolved questions, for example, the need to soften the consonant groups: m'iyks'ti or otherwise, al'ks'n'is or otherwise. Its author Irena Ermanyté is an experienced lexicologist, who has written and edited many of the great Lithuanian lexicons, published the school Lithuanian antonymy lexicon (1985), so her linguistic skills and scientific knowledge can be fully trusted. The reviewed dictionary belongs to a special type of dictionary, because it provides lexical units of one type: pairs or chains of such words, whose meanings are diametrically opposed to each other, i.e. antonyms. Isrinkus medziaga iS viso daugiatomio Lietuviy kalbos zodyno, papildzius pavyzdziais i§ grozinés literatiros, publicistikos, Siame veikale stengtasi pateikti ir sisteminius, ir kontekstinius antonimus, aiSkinti ir lietuviy bendrineés kalbos, ir tarmiu, ir senujy raStu faktus. Thus, we have before our eyes a lexicographic work of a large volume, in which we can find data not only about the systemic relationships of words in the present Lithuanian language, but also about the relationships of presence formed in certain texts, which in one way or another affect the entire language system.
