The i s syllable, 2, is lowe han he ci cum lex syllable, so i 's a backwa d a icula ion. When we say ci cumplex [a]7, he i s consonan is d opped due o he e ec o he p e-ocula [i]. In he double bass, bo h d ums a e in he pos e io ow, only one wi h a lowe ise, he o he wi h a highe ise and a lowe ise. The i s syllable o acu e double-syllable [au] has a highe 2 han he i s syllable o ci cumsc ibed [au]. The owel [u] has a e y low i s wo- o man , so in ci cumsc ibed owel, he i s owel 2 is lowe ed.
