socie y. By unning small businesses, hey ea n money, gain con idence, and ake pa in amily and

small and mic o en e p ises in bo h u al and u ban a eas. These businesses help hem o suppo
hei amilies and imp o e hei li ing s anda ds. In Ahmednaga Dis ic , women en ep eneu s
a e ound in many ields. They wo k in ood p ocessing, ailo ing, handic a s, e ail ade, and
ag o-based ac i i ies. Mos o hese businesses a e small in size, bu hey play a big ole in he
local economy. Women en ep eneu s also b ing social change. They become mo e con iden ,

1. Women en ep eneu s in he small scale and mic o sec o make a signi ican con ibu ion o amily income and local
de elopmen .
2. Lack o inance and ma ke ing oppo uni ies a e he main challenges o women en ep eneu s in Ahmednaga
Dis ic .
Resea ch Me hodology: In his s udy, he desc ip i e and analy ical me hod has been used. The desc ip i e me hod is
used o explain he p esen si ua ion o women en ep eneu s in he small scale and mic o sec o . The analy ical me hod
is used o examine he seconda y da a, compa e di e en sou ces, and in e p e he ole and challenges o women
en ep eneu s in Ahmednaga Dis ic .
Da a Collec ion: The p esen s udy is comple ely based on seconda y da a. In o ma ion has been collec ed om
go e nmen epo s, publica ions and eco ds ela ed o small scale and mic o en e p ises. Da a om he Dis ic
Indus ies Cen e (DIC), Ahmednaga and he Economic Su ey o Maha ash a has been used. Census epo s,
esea ch a icles, jou nals and books on women en ep eneu ship ha e also p o ided use ul in o ma ion.
Re iew o Li e a u e: Many s udies ha e been ca ied ou in India and ab oad on women en ep eneu s and hei ole
in small scale and mic o en e p ises. Some o hem a e as ollows:
1) Sha ma R.K. (2013), in his book Women En ep eneu ship in India explained ha women en ep eneu s play a
i al ole in economic g ow h, especially in he small and mic o sec o . He men ioned ha lack o inance and poo
ma ke ing acili ies a e he wo main ba ie s o u al women en ep eneu s.
2) Meena Deshpande (2016), in he s udy A S udy o Women En ep eneu s in Maha ash a highligh ed ha women
a e mos ly in ol ed in ailo ing, ood p ocessing, and handic a uni s. She obse ed ha hough go e nmen
suppo schemes a e a ailable, awa eness among u al women is s ill e y low.
3) Sangee a Pa il (2017), in his hesis P oblems and P ospec s o Women En ep eneu s in Ahmednaga Dis ic
analyzed he socio-economic backg ound o women en ep eneu s. She ound ha mos women s a small
businesses ou o economic necessi y and amily encou agemen is e y impo an o hei success.
4) Joshi Ani a (2018), in his book Mic o inance and Women Empowe men s udied he ole o sel -help g oups and
mic o inance in p omo ing women en ep eneu s. She concluded ha collec i e sa ings and small loans gi e
women sel -con idence and inancial independence.
5) Kadam Suni a (2020), in his Ph.D. hesis En ep eneu ship De elopmen among Women in Ru al Maha ash a
emphasized ha women-owned small and mic o en e p ises gene a e employmen and income. Howe e , she
poin ed ou ha women s ill ace a lack o p o essional aining and limi ed ma ke access.
6) Kau Ha p ee and Singh Rajesh (2021), in hei esea ch a icle Women En ep eneu s in he MSME Sec o o
India s udied seconda y da a om di e en s a es. They concluded ha women’s pa icipa ion in he MSME sec o
is inc easing, bu inancial li e acy, ins i u ional suppo , and ma ke linkages mus be s eng hened.
F om hese s udies, i becomes clea ha women en ep eneu s con ibu e o amily wel a e, income gene a ion,
and local de elopmen . A he same ime, hey con inue o ace common challenges like inance, aining, and
ma ke ing. The e iew also shows ha e y limi ed esea ch has been ca ied ou speci ically in Ahmednaga
Dis ic , which makes he p esen s udy impo an .

En ep eneu ship is an engine o g ow h and women en ep eneu s a e becoming an impo an pa o his
p ocess. In Ahmednaga Dis ic , women a e ac i ely engaged in he small scale and mic o sec o . These sec o s a e
sui able o women because hey equi e small in es men , simple echnology, and can o en be managed om home o
wi hin he local communi y. Thei ole is no only economic bu also social, as hey con ibu e o amily wel a e,
educa ion o child en, and upli men o socie y.

employmen , educing dependency on ou side jobs.
3. U iliza ion o Local Skills and Resou ces: Women o en use hei adi ional skills such as s i ching, pickling,
papad-making, o emb oide y o c ea e business oppo uni ies. This no only p ese es cul u al p ac ices bu also
u ns household ac i i ies in o income-gene a ing en u es.
4. S eng hening o Ru al Economy: In Ahmednaga , ag o-based small indus ies like dai y, ood p ocessing, and
small shops linked o ag icul u e a e common. These women-led en e p ises suppo a me s, p omo e local ade,
and educe economic leakages om illages o ci ies.
5. Social Empowe men and Con idence: By ea ning independen ly, women gain espec in hei amilies and
communi ies. Thei decision-making ole inc eases, and hey become mo e con iden in dealing wi h banks,
ins i u ions, and ma ke s. This empowe men has long- e m social e ec s.
6. Imp o emen in Li ing S anda ds: Addi ional income om small en e p ises is o en spen on child en’s
educa ion, be e ood, housing imp o emen s, and heal hca e. This di ec ly aises he s anda d o li ing and

7. Con ibu ion o Local Ma ke s: Women en ep eneu s con ibu e o local economic ac i i y by supplying goods
and se ices. Thei businesses whe he a small shop, ailo ing se ice, o ood p oduc mee local demand and

8. Inspi a ion o O he Women: Women en ep eneu s ac as ole models. Thei isible success inspi es o he
women o b eak social ba ie s and s a small businesses. This c ea es a cycle o empowe men and con ibu es o
wide pa icipa ion o women in he economy.

Ahmednaga Dis ic , women wo king in he small scale and mic o sec o o en belong o middle o lowe -income
g oups.
1. Lack o Finance: Women en ep eneu s ace di icul ies in ge ing loans om banks and inancial ins i u ions.
Many do no ha e p ope y o asse s o o e as colla e al. This o ces hem o depend on amily membe s, local
moneylende s, o small SHG loans, which limi s he scale o hei businesses.
2. Ma ke ing Di icul ies: Mos women en ep eneu s sell hei p oduc s in local ma ke s only. They lack access o
wide ma ke s, mode n ad e ising, and online pla o ms. As a esul , hei businesses emain small and p o i s a e
low.
3. Low Awa eness o Go e nmen Schemes: E en hough many go e nmen p og ams exis o women
en ep eneu s, awa eness among u al women is poo . Complex p ocedu es and pape wo k discou age hem om
aking bene i s o hese schemes.
4. Lack o T aining and Skills: Women en ep eneu s o en do no ha e p o essional aining in business
managemen , ma ke ing, o mode n echnology. They ely mainly on adi ional knowledge, which educes hei
compe i i eness.
5. Family and Social P essu e: In many cases, women ha e o balance household du ies wi h business ac i i ies.

Recommenda ions o Women in Small and Mic o En e p ises: Women en ep eneu s play a i al ole in he

schemes.
2. They should de elop hei skills and knowledge h ough aining, wo kshops, and lea ning mode n business

3. Women should ocus on ma ke ing and ne wo king by using digi al pla o ms and joining en ep eneu
associa ions.
4. They need o balance wo k and amily esponsibili ies h ough p ope planning and delega ion.
5. Le e aging go e nmen schemes, subsidies, and g an s can s eng hen hei business ope a ions.
6. Adop ing mode n echnology, machine y, and digi al ools will imp o e e iciency and each.
7. Building con idence, leade ship, and decision-making abili ies helps women handle business challenges
e ec i ely.

accessibili y.

women-led en e p ises.

Conclusion:
Women en ep eneu s in he small scale and mic o sec o play an impo an ole in he de elopmen o he
economy. They help in gene a ing income, c ea ing jobs, and suppo ing hei amilies. Howe e , hey ace many
challenges such as lack o inance, di icul y in ma ke ing p oduc s, limi ed access o echnology, social and cul u al
ba ie s, and balancing amily esponsibili ies. To o e come hese p oblems, women should imp o e hei skills
h ough aining and wo kshops, adop mode n ools and echnology, use digi al pla o ms o ma ke ing, and plan hei
business ca e ully. A he same ime, he go e nmen and ins i u ions should p o ide inancial suppo , simpli y loan
