The main pu pose o psychological counseling and psychoco ec ion is o assis clien s
wi h p oblems ela ed o cogni i e diso de s, emo ional s ain, o beha io al di icul ies. To help
clien s, a psychologis applies knowledge om pe sonali y heo y as well as he p inciples o
psychoco ec ion o counseling. The psychologis ’s app oach o assis ing clien s mus be based on
legal and e hical ounda ions. The e a e a ious pe spec i es on how o dis inguish be ween
psychological counseling and psychoco ec ion. Some schola s belie e ha counseling is applied
o indi iduals wi h a no mal psychological s a e, whe eas psychoco ec ion is used o hose
expe iencing se e e s ess. The main challenge lies in di e en ia ing he in ensi y o s ess, as
p ac icing psychologis s some imes use he same echniques o a ying le els o ension. Ano he
dis inc ion is ha counseling aims a eaching and p o iding in o ma ion, while co ec ion ocuses
on alle ia ing he p oblem.

ela ionship be ween a pa ien and a psychologis .”

people a e o en cha ac e ized by eelings o insecu i y abou hei u u e, pessimism, and
emo ional coldness. A psychologis , h ough scien i ic unde s anding, iden i ies he basis o hese

psychoco ec ion is also used. While psychological counseling is a sho - e m p ocess in he o m
o ad ice p o ided by he psychologis , he psychoco ec ion p ocess is long- e m and equi es he
psychologis o be ac i ely in ol ed in implemen ing ce ain beha io al o emo ional changes. The
psychologis should s i e o c ea e an en i onmen in which he clien iews he esolu ion o
hei p oblems wi h op imism. The di ec ions o psychological schools ha ha e a p ac ical basis
a e applied in a gene al and ha monious way in bo h psychological counseling and
psychoco ec ion p ac ices. The psychoco ec ion p ocess p ima ily equi es s udying and
e alua ing he clien based on psychodiagnos ics.
