Effects of 8 weeks strength training on vertical jump performance in elite male volleyball players during the in-season [Póster]

METHODS Nine p o essional male olleyball playe s ook pa in his s udy. The neu omuscula pe o mance was es ima ed by unloaded (CMJ) and loaded coun e mo emen jumps (CMJloaded) heigh (cm); and by eloci y o displacemen in he concen ic phase o ull squa (FS) (m•s-1). T aining ook place 2 d•wk-1 du ing 8 weeks (16 sessions) ( able 1). The esis ance exe cises we e FS, hang powe clean and loaded jump. In FS, 2-3 se ies o 4-6 epe i ions we e ealized wi h a load which was g adually inc eased om 50% o 65% o 1RM. In powe clean, 3 se ies o 4-6 epe i ions we e ealized wi h he maximum load ha allows a co ec echnical execu ion. In loaded jump, 2-3 se ies o 4-5 epe i ions we e ealized wi h a load which was g adually inc eased om 50% o 80% acco ding o he weigh wi h which he a hle es eached a heigh o abou 20 cm. RESULTS The e was a signi ican inc ease in CMJ and CMJloaded (3.4% and 5.8%; p<0.05; espec i ely). No signi ican changes we e obse ed in FS (0.14%; p>0.05). PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS o CONCLUSION  Ou esul s sugges ha he use o mode a e loads could p oduce simila esul s on e ical jump pe o mance o he use o high loads, since in ou s udy a load equi alen o 60% 1RM in he FS was no exceeded and jumping exe cises we e pe o med wi h ligh loads.  These esul s indica e ha he speci ici y o aining, which in his case is exp essed by he p oximi y o he eloci ies o execu ion o he aining exe cises o he eloci y o execu ion o he e ical jump, is de e minan o he pe o mance.
