Al hough his li e and academic ca ee we e always connec ed wi h he B i ish academic wo ld (Uni e si y o Camb idge and Uni e si y College London) and ins i u ions (Egyp Explo a ion socie y), Czech Egyp ologis s ha e good easons o emembe him as well. Al eady in 1961, du ing he in e na ional campaign o UNESCO o sal age he monumen s o ancien Nubia o be subme ged by he wa e s o he High Assuan Dam, he headed a eam o he Egyp Explo a ion Socie y ha conduc ed asu ey o apa on he Egyp ian Nubia.
