Managing team work submissions in large moodle courses in order to generate course portfolios

Abstract

- Massification of higher education institution promotesthe importance of peer education and team work as importanteducational tools. As such, teams frequently produce severaldeliverables that should be organized and evaluated throughout agiven course. Some submissions should then be attributed to theteam rather than the individual and searching for a given type ofdeliverable from a given team becomes an important concern interms of organization and ease of usage in evaluatingassignments. The course "Projeto FEUP", used as case study andsurely many others benefit from an at-least partially automatedproduction of an organized set of all deliverables from a givencourse in a given year - a course portfolio, a task made easier bythe usage of the presented ideas and the prototype implementedin the Moodle Learning Management System. This article showsdetails of the implementation and the lessons learned. Theprototype was tested in the mentioned test course that has aboutone thousand students enrolled and a course portfolio wassuccessfully created.
